Usually I really don`t like song soundtracks but the swing tunes that were included on the "Down with Love" CD were terriffic and really played a role in the film. It`s only too bad that only 15 minutes of Shaiman`s beautiful score are on the CD. I mean the whole album is only 38 minutes long. The songs and 45 minutes of score would have been perfect. I mean wasn`t there this new union regulation where the re-use fees are reduced when the musicians are named on the album ? Too bad reprise records didn`t do that in this case.
I want a complete score of this wonderful score as well. Reprise Records (which is apart of the Warner Bros. Records label division) only cares about making money period. They don't care about film score soundtracks unless it's a major film like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or The Matrix. They go all out for those, but for a movie like Down With Love, they used the soundtrack to promote Michael Bubble's upcoming song album on the same label. Too bad Varese or even Reprise released a score album. Ah well.
