Costa also did a pretty good score for the George Peppard/Dean Martin western, ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO. This YouTube clip is mediocre sound but gives you an idea:
Never understood why Universal never released even a single on Costa's MADIGAN or ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO as he had a good rep as a recording artist and arranger. Perhaps a conflict of recording contracts?

Both of these songs are credited in the film:
"The Devil Rides in Jericho" and "Hold Me Now and Forever," words and music by Don Costa and Phil Zeller, sung by The Kids Next Door.
Yes..one of my grails...fantastic score. Hope that it will someday find a release... Is it by any chance Universal? Than there might be a chance now after the Variety / Lalaland announcement!

Thanks, Bob. I stand corrected on ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO. That's very much an "easy listening" version of the main theme but Costa finally cranks up the energy level around the 1:59 mark.

I haven't heard the version by The Kids Next Door, which is labeled "Chorus With Orchestra." I suspect it has a Hugo Montenegro kind of sound.

I posted that clip; did the best I could with the Amazon Vault DVD that came out several years ago. Originally I tried to post the video of the main title, but that kept being blocked by Universal, so I just posted the sound with two stills from the main title, and that worked.
One of my few remaining Holy Grails (I know there should be only one grail..but Im longing for around 20 still) This one is amongst the best of the seventies scores.
I've been a faithful TMC watcher for oh, the past decade or so -- and my chief gripe about it is that they completely IGNORE the work of Richard Widmark. So this interests me to see one of the finer films from the latter period of his career was presented on TMC, albeit some years before I started watching it. But, I'll bet the hosts COMPLETELY ignored Widmark in their discussion of the film! (Sorry, I suppose this post is off-topic, but I've been harboring this rant for several years now!)
