Here is the Harry Revel/Sam Hoffman/Les Baxter track...

Reading the first post in this thread, is this why you started the "A Must for Any Serious Collector" topic?

Ha ha, no, but I have seen this warhorse trotted out in numerous posts here over the years - or decades, by now.

I bet the very first post of the message board said something like it.

Obviously this is way to expensive to buy on CD any longer... best place to buy the MP3 album? I see it on Amazon for $8.99. Not having ever purchased an MP3 album from Amazon, I don't know what bit rate they offer.

Amazon does not offer hi-res music downloads.

MP3 quality has improved over the decades, but since this one dates from 2004, I can't speak to the audio quality.

EDIT: Qobuz has a hi-res version available:

I really love this score, especially "Underground Escape":

The thereminist for this score was the one and only Lydia Kavina.

Bumping for Howard L.

Whoa! We are 3/4 of the way through the maiden viewing and bruddah I knew I was in for a treat from the first notes. "Herrmannesque" is an understatement, it is Herrmannesque at its finest: 2-note phrases/chords, vibraphone, bass clarinet, theremin, little chimes flourishes--my oh my pure TZ for a flick that is TZ to the max. What a marvelous homage. This guy Banos did his homework. Send him to ShyamalanLand. And send me the soundtrack!

Here's a 34-minute suite!

Shades of Fahrenheit, too. Another Zonesque score.

I hear Fahrenheit, Day the Earth Stood Still, Where is Everybody, and I think Little Girl Lost?

Yes, all those came to mind. I'm surprised to see you mention "Little Girl Lost" as I was surprised at myself for a fleeting reaction that was summarily set aside. Nice to know the instincts remain sound.

Howard, did you ever listen to the CBS Radio Mystery Theatre, hosted by EG Marshall, in the 1970s? So much TZ and CBS library music was used in that show!
