The rock group Spirit recorded music for this obscure..film starring Anouk Aimee & Gary Lockwood. Due to the dismal reception of the film a score LP was not released in 1968.
Finally Sundazed has released (on CD and vinyl) the score. And is a jewel!!
Mostly "free jazz" score with a few songs; anyone familiar with the group Spirit and their "jazzy" jams (as in the middle of "fresh Garbage") will be very happy someone finally released it.
Order at Sundazed music.com.
Excellent score!!!!

Hey, didnĀ“t Serge Gainsbourg compose something for this film? I know he has a track called "Model Shop", anyway.

Hi Thor:
Serge Gainsbourg had a score for a movie and called "Sex Shop". And like most of what he did was excellent.

Bump.

Marty Paich is also credited on this film. Does anyone know what he contributed? I'm thinking maybe some of the modal, quasi-psychedelic jazzy grooves, but I suppose that could have been Spirit also.

Anyone know?

Marty Paich usually arranged horns and strings for the group Spirit.

In the main titles of the film, Marty Paich is credited as the conductor of the score.

Thanks. So the album contains more or less everything you hear in the film, minus the classical pieces?

Although I haven't done a direct comparison, quite a lot of what's on the album isn't used in the film. From what I understand this was largely a "jam session" score - Spirit composed and recorded a lot of music and Demy pulled from the sessions what he wanted to. I think Spirit's music works perfectly in the film, and the album is great too.

The Sundazed CD is in great mono sound. Has unreleased tracks also. You can sample it at Sundazed.com.
