If you would like to see a release of Bruce Broughton's outstanding music for the various Disney theme parks, please follow this link to a petition that currently has more than 650 signatures: http://www.gopetition.com/online/8584.html

Cue the cynical among us who will be sure to let us know that petitions like this are of no use... but if nothing else, signing the petition is a symbolic act that might have some small chance of getting the attention of the powers-that-be that there is a demand for Broughton's park music, and that a limited release would likely sell out in a flash.

For those who are unaware, Broughton has applied his considerable talents to scoring a number of attractions in the Disney parks, and like his other great efforts on behalf of Disney very little of this music has been released. The "official albums" released every year at Disneyland and Walt Disney World are aimed at the general park visitor, and while the producers throw score fans a few bones every now and then, they have mostly turned their back on the brilliant orchestral scores produced by Broughton and others.

Well, truth be told - can you name a single online petition that ever worked?

My Godzilla (Complete Score) Petition!

This thread was started 8 years ago, and still nothing. Why is it that Disney won't release or license the release of some of the best music ever composed by Bruce Broughton? And yes, the petition was a waste of time.

There's a bit of information on this Intrada thread, but nothing especially encouraging:

Sounds like something could be coming in the near (or not so near) future!!!

Last year at the Intrada forum when a user suggested a release of Disney park rides music was DOA because it had been two year since anything was said about it, Doug chimed in:

A lesson is in order here. At one time, virtually all Disney scores were unavailable except those few that they felt were of sufficient commercial interest. Fast forward to today: Intrada has released literally dozens of scores to Disney movies big and small. Goldsmith, Horner, Mancini, Delerue, Goodwin, Steiner, Giacchino, Poledouris, Zimmer... the list grows monthly. Oh, the lesson? Never assume anything. --Doug

Wow, what awesome news!!! Ellen's Energy Adventure, The Timekeeper, Spaceship Earth... all on one CD would be amazing. Plus hopefully a few surprises too. Instant purchase when available. Thanks to all involved for listening to the requests of this board!

That quote from Broughton is not especially encouraging. From what I understand the album was mastered a number of years ago by Intrada and has been sitting all this time on some back burner at Disney. Intrada doesn't seem to have any ability to push the release, and there really isn't any reason to be optimistic that this is coming out anytime soon. EXCEPT... I just read that Broughton is conducting a concert of his theme park music in Hamburg in September. I would like to think that this concert is being timed to a release of this music, but that might just be wishful thinking.

Well I am going to remain highly optimistic! lol Regardless. The fact that Disney even spent the money to master the material if also a very good sign. They wouldn't get that far and spend the money to master everything unless they were planning on a release.
