No doubt this has been done one time or other within the width of this vast virtual space but, if not, we’re gonna inaugurate its long-past-due unveiling. Ours would be:
1. Diana Rigg’s Tracy (ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE): THE performance by which all others will always be measured for its depth, delicacy, vulnerability, virtue, incontestable class and touching tragedy.
2. Ursula Andress’s Honey (DR. NO): THE incontestable iconic hallmark by which all others are compared for her unforgettable entrance
and astounding allure.
3. Shirley Eaton’s Jill (GOLDFINGER): Undeniably THE iconic image of the entire series
which also captured Eaton’s playful, breathtaking beauty at its unmistakable apex.
4. Claudine Auger’s Domino (THUNDERBALL): For her sophistication, style and drop-alive gorgeous maturity.
5. Luciana Paluzzi’s Fiona (THUNDERBALL): She's the only one who’s ever matched Connery’s cold-blooded charm and debonair deadliness with the siren attraction of a viper who’s only virtue was … she didn’t have any.
And her glorious showdown scene with Connery remains the most vicious and venomous mutual-hatred sequence in all of Bondom (with his final line after their dance duet an instant classic).
6. Sophie Marceau’s Elektra (THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH): Of all Brosnan’s leading ladies, we felt she was the singular exception to the Playmate-wannabees (who weren’t) and the closest to crafting a worthy character (plot holes aside, although we didn’t see the twist coming regarding her, which only added to her mysterious appeal).
7. Corinne Clery’s Corinne (MOONRAKER): Our favorite S.L. (Sacrificial Lamb) who had a genuine sweetness and presence which made her exit all the more regrettable (tho it elicited one of John Barry’s most haunting musical cues).
(The closest I've ever come to owning that Bond beauty Connery is leaning against in the photo above is the since retired Franklin Mint die cast model replica of it.)
#4-Caroline Munro (She should have had a much larger part!)
#5-Izabella Scorupco (She brought both a refreshing natural quality to her role, as well as the ability to look great in a bikini in one scene)
#6-Jill St. John (Even though I think Raquel would have been better in her role)
#7-Maud Adams
#8-Claudine Auger
#9-Lucianna Paluzzi
#10-And I think a special nod to Lois Maxwell, whose presence graced the series for 14 movies, and who managed to inject a wonderful subtext into the series of how her charmingly attractive, but eternally lovesick Moneypenney was the only woman Bond never bedded because deep down he really respected her and knew that if he obliged her, he'd probably be seduced into the soft life of domesticity and could never let that happen where he'd only end up hurting her in the end.
