This is such a delightful score!
Very much like one of my favorite Johnny Williams scores, "Fitzwilly".

It's from United Artists, so is their any chance of this seeing a release?

Loved this score. Had hoped Ryko would get to it. Judging by FSM's output maybe Lukas might be looking for a mate for it. Maybe LORD LOVE A DUCK because their both satires. Of course there would have to be a revival of interest in these two composers. Maybe after someone releases GOONIES and it sells well.

Also loved CANDY, a cue was used for the end titles of OCEANS TWELVE.

The leap between Divorce and Candy had my head spinning. It put Dave Grusin in the "must have everything he ever did" catagory for me.

I have "Lord Love a Duck" paired with "Oh Daddy, Poor Daddy".
Perhaps for Lukas, these mid-to-late 60's scores don't sell that well.
If we are in the minority morricone, I can't imagine being in better company.

While Hefti's name has come up, I would kill for a complete or expanded "Duel at Diablo".

I think this 1967 score is one of the first feature film scores Grusin ever did?

In any case, it's a solid album. Loungey, with some sprinkles of orchestral drama and even those quasi-baroque elements I love so much in jazz-centered scores.

Kritzerland put it out on CD in 2011.

I have a number of Neal Hefti's scores on CD. I have 2 Duel at Diablo discs. One is paired with his RCA LP Hefti In Gotham City. The other is paired with The Horse Soldiers by David Buttolph. I also have Oh Dad, Poor Dad from RCA Spain. Other Hefti scores in my collection are:
Synanon paired with Enter Laughing by Quincy Jones
Won Ton Ton The Dog That Saved Hollywood
Batman Theme RCA CD
Barefoot In The Park paired with The Odd Couple (With a vocal demo by Hefti and Sammy Cahn) on Varese
Oh Dad , Poor Dad paired with Boeing Boeing on Vocalion UK
How To Murder Your Wife score and album paired with Lord Love A Duck
Sex And The Single Girl (his first Film score) paired with The Chapman Report (Leonard Rosenman)
Harlow on Columbia and 2 Harlow scores Hefti's paired with a Harlow score Composed by Nelson Riddle and Al Ham, arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle on Soundtrack Track Library CD-56.
Most of these are out of print and have been for quite a while.
I became a fan of Hefti's while in high school. I played piano in our jazz band and we played a number of his Basie charts. Hefti wrote 75 charts for Basie in the 1950's.

Even Miles Davis acknowledged the importance of Hefti's arrangements for Count Basie.
