Played it last night, the first time in ages. A very nice listen indeed.

Yes, a wonderful score from the great Jarre. I don't have the whole score only a selection from James Fitzpatrick re-recording on the 'Lawrence of Arabia' disc set. Maybe we will see a remastered release from the one of the European labels this year as part of Jarre's centenary.

Today I discovered that Jarre incorporated portions of Hans Schubert's 'Fantasy in F Minor' Piano Sonata. A clever idea as it goes seamlessly with the score.

Jarre also incorporated a Hungarian folk song, called "Tavaszi szél vizet áraszt" into the score. Considering that the film is the story of a Hungarian family made by a Hungarian director it's not such a big surprise. A couple of years earlier Gabriel Yared also incorporated two Hungarian folk songs into his score for The English Patient because the main character of the story was Hungarian Laszlo Almásy.

I wish someone would release this on Blu-Ray.

Paramount still controls it in the US, but I doubt they'll ever get around to it.

Maybe they'll license it to someone.

They have it in HD for digital purchase, I might just break down and buy it that way.

I think the melody is there.
