Yes, a wonderful score from the great Jarre. I don't have the whole score only a selection from James Fitzpatrick re-recording on the 'Lawrence of Arabia' disc set. Maybe we will see a remastered release from the one of the European labels this year as part of Jarre's centenary.
Today I discovered that Jarre incorporated portions of Hans Schubert's 'Fantasy in F Minor' Piano Sonata. A clever idea as it goes seamlessly with the score.
Jarre also incorporated a Hungarian folk song, called "Tavaszi szél vizet áraszt" into the score. Considering that the film is the story of a Hungarian family made by a Hungarian director it's not such a big surprise. A couple of years earlier Gabriel Yared also incorporated two Hungarian folk songs into his score for The English Patient because the main character of the story was Hungarian Laszlo Almásy.
