Thanks for the info, Onya.

You're welcome!

I think there may even be a third box set in this series, but I have these two.

They are all excellent sets. The ones that I have are:

* Film Noir

* Crime Jazz

* David Amram Film Scores

* Jazz in Polish Cinema

* The New Wave

* Beat, Square and Cool

I'm not sure if there are others, but if there are, I'm in.

Thank you! Does the David Amram set have "The Manchurian Candidate," and if so, does it contain more music than the 30 minutes that is on the existing release?

The Manchurian Candidate is all of disc 1 and over 60 minutes.

The 3 CD set also includes Splendor in the Grass, The Arrangement (wonderful Greek influences!), Pull My Daisy, The Young Savages, and Echoes of an Era.

I may have to get this. I'm assuming this is the version that came from Amram's personal tape. I don't want to wait forever for an expanded edition that will never arrive.

There are more!

*A 2nd New Wave set (titled The New Wave II)

* Biopics (scores for movies like the Gene Krupa Story / The James Dean Story / The Benny Goodman Story etc.)

*A 3CD set of Umilani scores featuring Chet Baker as a soloist (all INCREDIBLE)

*A single CD of Sidney Bechet's French Film Scores

And maybe more! Almost all of these releases can be found at the Moochin' About label's website (save Jazz In Polish Cinema, which weirdly seems like the same people but released under a different label). They're all incredible!

Crime In the Streets is freakin incredible as well. Really truly love this score. The more Waxman scores I hear the more astonished I am that he could write such incredible Film music in so many different modes. Try this back to back with Untamed or Hemingway's Adventrues of a Young Man. CRAZY

You may enjoy waddling over to a thread I created titled "Nervous Angular Longhair." It has mostly been a conversation with myself, but I invite you to chime in!

I've had similar experience with - believe this - Mario Nascimbene. After absorbing jazz soundtracks like La prima notte di quiete & La garçonnière, my appreciation for Nascimbene increased.
Crime in the Streets is not a typical Waxman soundtrack, but writing in differing modes was not uncommon with composers like Masaru Sato(h), Andre Hossein, Hans-Martin Majewski, etc.

Plus, if you love Umiliani, then you might be receptive towards other Italians such as Piccioni or Trovajoli (if you don't already love'em).

I wonder if I still have my Crime in the Streets LP on white vinyl. I'll have to check.

I have a copy in reasonably playable, though not great, condition.
