Wonderful score but the 25 minutes on the official release seems enough.
I've never seen the movie but I've always enjoyed that selection on the CD. Almost like a suite, if you will. It's been a long time since I've played it, is the sound bad as someone mentioned previously?
It sounds OK to me but that's not to say a little remastering couldn't improve the sound on a recording from almost 30 years ago.

Two Spielberg-Williams collaborations appeared that fall. The other, Always, seemed like the more promising one: Aviation, romance, western scenery, firefighting, Richard Dreyfuss, Audrey Hepburn. We expected less from Tom Cruise as a disgruntled vet. But things turned out otherwise, didn't they?
Another 1989 memory: Buying the album in a record store (remember those?), the clerk said that Edie Bracknell had a great rendition of "A Hard Rain." I wondered what on earth he was talking about, never having heard of the singer of the song.
Sorry: Brickell. Damn small print!

Are we talking about the same unofficial "expanded edition" here that's been around for years? For the life of me I can't understand the comments that go like "Oh, we really don't need an official expanded and remastered edition of BOT4OJ, that old 20 minute CD from 1989 is good enough"…
Have you actually listened to the full score? Only yesterday I rewatched the film after maybe 25 years and I was just blown away by it. I was moved to tears by the story, the tragedy, the immersive moviemaking style of Oliver Stone (finding its peak of course two years later in JFK) - and also the score. This is Williams at his finest, at his absolute peak. And of course there's some new and exciting material, like the "Wargames" cue when the kids play in the woods at the beginning. The sense of foreboding is just pure Williams magic.
I also want the original tracks, "remixed and remastered from the original pristine first generation elements by Mike Matessino".
So, after ALWAYS (which, most ironically, is a MUCH better listening experience in its short, old form IMHO) getting the deluxe treatment, how long can it be until BOT4OJ is due? How any true film music (and John Williams!) fan can NOT want this is an absolute mystery to me.

I agree with afn, this one needs a proper extended, remastered release like so many John Williams scores have had. A stunning score in many ways.
I love the trio of scores Williams composed for Oliver Stone movies. Powerful, emotional intense.

Bumping on this post, as I would LOVE a good, solid expanded version of this score. It was Oscar nominated - (probably should have won) and was one of JW's best for a dramatic, non Spielberg, no HP, Non SW movie...IMO
