Listened to this upcoming (re)release now. Has some good stuff, but also some that meanders a bit. I'll give it a second go to see if it's good enough to enter my digital collection. I remember the film from my early years; I think we rented it on VHS at some point.

I just received the new Silva reissue from SAE. Not sure if they remastered it but it sounds great.
Some new liner notes from the filmmakers reflecting back after 35 years.

I love these older synth soundscapes and really miss hearing this style from Isham. His use of drum machines is really unique. It’s a great listen and I love how it swings between ambience and terror.

Still have my fingers crossed for a Blu-ray.

While Blade was my introduction to Isham, The Hitcher was a score I came back to listen to so often when I finally found it (I dare admit I had to illegally obtain it). The movie is a little favorite gem of mine and the score is a prime example of Isham's gifts in the creation of sound and harmony to create these sonic worlds for film. He is vastly underrated.

Really happy when I saw this show up on digital storefronts and I hope there will be a vinyl print as well.

I can find no mention of it on the packaging or the website. Sounds great though!

Did a quick A-B comparison and I can't be certain, this isn't like the recent Legend reissue where the difference is obvious and immediate. It's exactly the same album master so at most it might just be a new transfer of that. This isn't a bad thing because the original album still sounds quite good. The booklet contains no information about the reissue mastering at all.

I also tend to think that this new release has the same masters ...
