I've seen the movie and I tell you that there are lot of huge fantastic cues that blew me away! Has anyone seen this movie? Gotta buy the score.

I never saw the film but I do have the CD. Is it still available, then?

I remember Erik Woods listed this as one of his favorite scores from a few years ago, and played several cues on his radio show.

Indeed! A fabulous score. My top 10 of 2004 looked like this...

10. THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (John Debney)
9. BLIZZARD (Mark McKenzie)
8. ARSENE LUPIN (Debbie Wiseman)
7. MIRACLE (Mark Isham)
6. HELLBOY (Marco Beltrami)
5. THE INCREDIBLES (Michael Giacchino)
4. HIDALGO (James Newton Howard)
3. THE POLAR EXPRESS (Alan Silvestri)
2. HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN (John Williams)
1. SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW (Edward Shearmur)

You can purchase a copy at Amazon.

And if you want to hear Wiseman in epic mode again I highly recommend Lesbian Vampire Killers! I will be featuring an extended suite of music from that score on my up coming new releases program. A lyrical, Gothic score inspired by Danny Elfman, Wojciech Kilar and Chris Young.

ARSENE is probably Wiseman's finest score.

I've enjoyed practically everything by Ms Wiseman. Her discography isn't huge but she is one of the few composers whom I think I have everything she's ever released, and "Arsene Lupin" would be indubitably in the upper third if I had to rank them in order of like.

I'd also mention that for those unfamiliar with her music (since her films don't seem to get a very much circulation), her anthology "Something Here" is quite fun to listen to, and represents a very good cross-section of the diverse genres she can write for:

HAUNTED has always been my favourite score by her, but this is probably my second fave. There's a bit of everything in it. It's probably the most epic score I've heard from her. Thumbs up from me too.

It's a fantastic score unfortunately wasted in a horrible, boring and nonsense movie

Yes, definitely. For me as well, "Haunted" is far and away my favourite Debbie Wiseman score. The fact that she does some of her own solo piano work featuring the central character's theme is a wonderful bonus - and the movie itself with a very youthful-looking Ms Kate Beckinsale is pretty much the icing on the cake. (A pity all that copious nudity was body-doubled, though.)

Do you have Different Voices?

Even with the narration, it instantly became one of my favorite discs (enough that I cut out the narration just to listen to the music. Ah, technology).

And yeah, the 'Something There' compilation is great, even if she does do a bit of Ravel quoting in The Ugly Duckling (purposeful no doubt...)

I'll just throw in my 2nd in saying that this is one fine score.

Worth hunting down.

I even dig that odd little french ditty at the opening.

Yes - and I can even do one better: it's been signed by Ms Wiseman for my daughter.

Arsène Lupin as in the grandfather of the great anime character Lupin III? That's so cool! Is the film based upon any specific novel from the French series?

The film references many of the classic Arsène Lupin stories by Maurice Leblanc, including The Arrest of Arsène Lupin, The Queen's Necklace, Sherlock Holmes Arrives Too Late, 813, and The Countess Of Cagliostro. Some of these references are more direct and complete then others.

I don't know the propert title, but I believe it's the one concerning crucifixes and the Countess of Castroglio.

I seem to remember reading that the clues were written in italics in the original novels.

I saw ARSENE at a French film festival in LA a couple of years ago. Nice production design, but nonsensical. Stick to BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF for this sort of thing. But Debbie's score is absolutely terrific.

Thanks but - as I said - I do have it. The question wasn't about me finding a copy, I was just curious as to whether it is still available. I'm guessing that's a no!

Cheers
