Absolutely. I hope the missing posts turn up soon, as I enjoyed some excellent conversation with all the FSM "rowdies." wink

Lukas,

Are we any closer to getting the missing data restored? I've done a lot of data restorations and it usually doesn't take this long, but I know with some applications it can get more complicated than usual to properly restore things to their original working order.

Just wondering, not pestering!

Mark

All right. As long as it's not this guy . . .

The problem is that we have a hosting guy and a programming guy and the hosting guy had to leave town and the programming guy still needs to talk to him. If only there was some sort of phone that was, I don't know...mobile...like a mobile phone...so that someone could be reached while mobile...oh well.

Not that it would really be helpful in the long-term, but I hope you tell the hosting guy (whom you're presumably paying a decent figure for his work) exactly what you think of his being uncontactable during this period of time. My father runs a company, and if he wasn't contactable when a problem arose, he would get fired. I'm certainly NOT suggesting you do the same, Lukas, but surely you get my point.

Your situations actually reminds me of one of my post-operative experiences when I was younger. About ten years ago, I had major spinal surgery (graphic details, not suitable for public detailingrazz), with an obviously lengthy recovery period. This didn't seem to faze the surgeon, because about a week after the surgery, he promptly flew to Tahiti (or some other such tropical paradise) for a month, and left me in the care of one of his underlings. Needless to say, by the time he got back I'd installed the underling as my primary orthopaedic surgeon, and told his boss to get lost. To make a long story short, your hosting guy (whom I'm sure is a perfectly wonderful chap) had better hope he doesn't have any underlings you can replace him with.big grin

Sunday night: I tried to check the site around 15 minutes ago and got the "Error" notice - so I assume other people got this too. Just wanted to say my guys will be back on the case Monday morning to restore the missing data from two weeks ago and also investigate the related errors. So if things conk out, hang in there but do post on this thread if you can discern any pattern to when the site might conk out.

Thanks
Lukas

I'm 69 now, so one never knows. I'm getting weaker, my mind is starting to fail, I might be gone before the posts are restored! Should I post on this thread if I discern a pattern that I might conk out?

It happened when I tried to access the site about that time too. However, after I closed the browser window and then re-opened it, the site loaded normally. The same thing happened when I tried to write this message, but again once I closed the browser window and had another go it worked. Go figure.

The error message came up just a couple of minutes ago (10:42am UK time) when I tried to access this thread; all was well when I made the second attempt.

OK! Update: There is no update. My guys have yet to restore the lost data and it is looking like it may not be workable. Simply put the database got corrupted and the corruption extended to the backups, etc. I could go on as far as how frustrating it is and how bad it looks as far as the public relations here but I won't because I am too tired and angry.

BLOG AUTHORS: Would you please begin manually re-posting your lost articles? Please try to backdate them as best you can.

We will make the blog articles a priority. So I need to know if anyone can't or won't re-post their lost articles. As far as board posts, we might simply have to live with that three-day gap.

SORRY! Please email me if you have any questions.

Thanks

Lukas

That's too bad!

Those 3 days of threads and posts were the best we've ever had on this board! Sheer genius! big grin

Perhaps they're really just misfiled in one of the vaults and reside on a hard-disc in a mis-identified film can next to the original QUO VADIS music tracks. big grin
