Outside of the rights issues, I honestly do not think there is enough interest (i. e. day one purchases) in these for a label to go out on a limb ... Kickstarter maybe?

See Roger's comments in the link above.

Where he says"we'll see" and "it would be an amazing set?"

"Does the fact that Disney bought Lucasfilm mean something can be expected for the Star Wars and Indiana Jones sagas, or Willow?"

"I’m not sure yet. I’d love to do the complete Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, so we’ll see. I love the music of Laurence Rosenthal and Joel McNeely, who did a large number of the episodes and TV movies. And there are some Frédéric Talgorn scores in there as well, and I love his music. It would be an amazing set."

So Roger really, really wants to do it. He hasn't said 'no, impossible' since that interview. So, there's still a chance of it happening.

I guess that was a little vague for my taste which is why I mentioned the notion of Kickstarter as Plan B.
Not that I would know who would tackle that and how...

  • I am missing volume 4 to complete my collection.

    Ditto. I suspect foul play.

If they were to do it, I hope it would be a new disc of the just the unreleased episiodes -- not a big box with everything. Would be a pain in the ass for those of us who already have all four volumes.

Volume 4 was the hardest one to find by a country mile. The "Best Of" album is even more rare but I never bothered getting it since it had nothing new on it

Was always disappointed that "The Mystery Of The Blues" (Volume 3) didn't include any of the adapted Williams themes that book-ended the episode...

I love this music and in light of so many series reboots now with music that not only doesn't sound like the originals but also doesn't have the impact of the originals, I'm always impressed with how consistent the YOUNG INDIANA JONES music was with Williams' style for Indiana Jones, while also retaining its own identity.

I've posted here before, but Frederic Talgorn's music for TRENCHES OF HELL is terrifying:

The music for the original 2 part Premiere episode with music by Rosenthal is a Holy Grail. Liltte Indy's first adventure in Egypt: The travelogue cues for the Cairo Port, the Pyramids of Giza and the Curse of the Mummy motif are some of the most inspired music cues for television. A rich tapestry laden score.

The Latin flaovoured music for the Young Indy in Part 2 and the adventurous and rousing theme for Indys advenure in Mexico for the Pancho Villa episode are all tremendous fun. I really hope Roger Fiegelson gets to do these 2 episodes as a 2 disc exclusive set.

There was an interview done by one of our French readers: Henry Jones Sr. with Roger many years ago where we first saw hopes for WILLOW and also YOUNG INDIANA JONES as a possible future project. Well, WILLOW has happened and now we hope this will happen some day becuase says he'd love to do the whole TV series !

I only have volume 2 and 4. Unfortunately I am missing volume 1 and 3. However actor Sean Patrick Flanery have signed my two volumes for me from when I met him at a convention.

I guess the release of INDY 5 will be our last best shot at a YOUNG INDY box set, after that I don't see there being enough interest for any label to invest time and work in this. Frankly I was already despairing when it didn't happen with CRYSTAL SKULL.

Any news? If it's not happening this year, it's not happening, right? Might as well give up hope?

Really? You’ve regularly commented on the commercialisation of the entertainment industry so i’m surprised you dont see it.

Simply put: If Dial of Destiny performs at the box office, expect Young Indy to be on Disney+ to capitalise on the success of the latest movie, and to gauge the appetite for future small screen adventures of Henry Jones Jnr. If the movie tanks, Disney and Lucasfilm will hold fire on anything Indy for a few years until the IP is no longer tarnished and then reboot it with great fanfare hoping that people will only remember the overall legacy of the franchise and not the shitty bits.

I don't think there is any way in the trenches of hell that Young Indy is going to get a boxed set soundtrack release to coincide with Indy 5.

Disney likely thinks of Young Indy as an embarrassment and would prefer to bury it or like someone else said, wait 10 years to reboot it with a new actor, make it edgy and dark and pretend nothing ever happened.

They may try to spin off Indy 5 characters, but the problem is Indiana Jones is set in a very specific period of real-world time and engages directly with real-world history, so they're very limited in their ambitions of a multiverse/reboot/metamodern/rehash/remake/give-me-a-hit-of-that-sweet-streaming-content-drug-cause-I'm-addict/episodic-infinity.

The winds of change in this film industry of hollywood follies would truly need to cast aside Disney's demons of deception so these tales of innocence could be brought to light in all their musical glory on a journey of radiance.

Alas these might be the perils of cupid or nothing more than love's sweet song but I myself would love a boxed set of the scores because I love the original show.

If this were the case, why would they have brought the show to Disney+ just this year? I'm sorry, but your theory here makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not talking about showcasing the original show, I'm just talking about rebooting it. It would be a literally easy concept to reboot as-is, but I suspect its tone and premise is too cheesy (embarrassingly-old-fashioned) for Disney's tastes. And had they tried to do a darker reboot so close to Indy 5, it would probably get a backlash. Hence the 10 year suggestion.

But also they could have just had no interest in rebooting it at all, that's another possibility.
