I'm very pleased you like the score, but ... at his best ... ? Not for me. Taste for Barry's music usually divides people who prefer his 90s style and those who enjoy the older, more inventive scores. It's your pick. Alex Alex, I am sure you know my postings by now ... I am, through and through a fan of the works of John Barry. I love his music from the late fifties, pre film scores, through to his latest works. As far as I am concerned he is the best at what he does ... ... so, when I say that My Life is not his best work - for me - that is simply because he has 50 or more scores which are more enjoyable to my ears/brain. I think My Life is very good but I can't rate it anywhere near his best work. Bookending it, both Chaplin and The Specialist are far better scores, IMHO. It has nothing to do with preferring his work from the sixties, seventies, or whenever.

It's just a matter of taste. We don't all like the same thing (thank goodness) as for me I like this cd and rate it very highly.

I didn't necessarily mean it was your case - the poster who said "My Life" was among Barry's best works probably prefers the composer's 90s output. Alex

There is a great cue on the soundtrack where Keaton's character is told he's basically SOL and should prepare for the worst quite soon, and he goes marching back into the Dr's office and tells him off. Great cue from Barry on the soundtrack.
