If it makes you feel any better Mr. Kendall, the Maurice Jarre: Concert Works CD was a very interesting find for me (and I imagine, for a few others). Thanks to the samples that were posted, I ended up really falling in love with some of the music that I was hearing. It was really exciting to hear the other pieces that were on the sampling list when I received the CD. It continues to be one of the CDs that I enjoy going back to. I must thank you and FSM for releasing the CD.

Have a safe trip and a grand time. Thanks for a particularly fine year of releases, too.

This may seem like the wrong kind of question, and it may already have been covered in another thread, but what are some of FSM's other "worst-selling" titles? If they're anything like the brilliant Jarre concert works disc, I'd like to pick some of those up too.

Is it safe to assume that the terrific titles discounted at SAE in the past few weeks needed a sales boost?

What are some others? I'd like to help.

Oh, we will be gathering up sales figures and inventory soon - thank you kind sir. A Man Called Adam, that one stiffed big time. More of a jazz album.

Have you heard anything from the studio side re: the success of the Trek album? I'm sure the music exec there is thinking, "Well, this all turned out to be a pretty good idea." smile

But a great album! I heartily recommend this one. I picked it up on a whim when I was writing the Jazz Score series last summer for FSMO and it turned out to be a great discovery. Benny Carter, Sammy Davis Jr. AND Mel Torme! C'mon!

Lukas: "I have received more than a few suggestions to release Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Really, you don't say?- I'll make you this deal: I will try, but please leave me alone while I do. Thanks! "

Are you sure this is what you want to say to the customers who probably helped make those two historic days? Hit them with smart aleck remarks and tell them to shut up just because they let you know what they want? I'm not saying you should take what you said back and promise us Star Trek III because I understand the complexities of rights issues. I just think you could have made your point a bit more professionally.

Hi Jeyl, you are quite right -- I am sorry -- and I saw your comment on trekmovie as well. I'm a little afraid to appear to promise something and then not be able to deliver.

LK, I couldn't be happier about the success of your TREK II venture. It's a dream come true for many and a remarkable achievement considering the challenges that labels have to face when resurrecting and expanding a score. I think many of our jaws are still on the floor and willl be for some time to come.

As for the previous comment posted, NOBODY here with integrity and sensibility thinks you're anything less than professional. And give him a break, people. It's a blog! Levity is allowed! Besides, it needs to be said that we can't all be bombarding LK with requests for TREK III. If we want to support him, we need to let him do what he does instead of burying him with inquiries and requests.

Thanks for all you do, LK. And now, back to melon thumping...

Jeyl, I see you are a new person here so welcome! Once you've been around a while you'll get the feel for some of the folks here. What Lukas said was to the point, but also in strict keeping with his humor and I'm sure most everyone who's been here for a while took it that way. Sometimes it's hard to read a comment in the manner it was intended since writing without inflections and other physical indicators sometimes can makes it a bit ambiguous if you don't know the person's nature and writing style. Lukas, like many of us here, uses a lot of humor, some very sly, so you'll just have to get used to it. Believe me, you'll know when Lukas is being dead serious, but he will still be civil and usually quite ambassadorial! Right ol' Grand Pubah?!

Welcome again Jeyl. This place is full of Trekkers (including yours truly) much to the consternation of some! wink Come in, have fun and learn a LOT!

Losing you as a customer over a comment about a CD? The horror...

You seem to be the only one taking offense. Your sense of humour is lacking. Heaven forbid Lukas make a joke about heading off the hordes of well meaning, inquisitive people who ask after ST3 because of ST2. Answering it once is easier than answering it five thousand times, right?

That's quite alright Lukas, and thank you. I know from your posts that you are indeed a hard working kind of guy and you will continue to have my support. And thanks for making TWOK complete soundtrack a reality. I'm looking forward to listening to the soundtrack when it arrives!

Losing you as a customer over a comment about a CD? The horror...

Naw. He didn't lose me as a customer. I didn't cancel my order over his comment. I'm just expressing an opinion. And Mark Ford is right. I am new here on the forums so I'm definitely not accustomed to everyone's sense of humor. And knowing forums, it is easier to misinterpret the written word than the spoken word (I should know, right?). I only made a point about it because it was on a business perspective, not an isolated forum topic. I guess another reason why I was more prone to his comments is because I work in customer service and it just came off as stuff I wouldn't say to paying customers.

Answering it once is easier than answering it five thousand times, right?
Absolutely! By no accounts am I saying he shouldn't express how difficult his job is. I follow up on Mystery Science Theater 3000 rights reports to see if any episodes I like will ever be released. Some right holders will say no, some will say yes, and sometimes the distributer won't even know who the right holders are. It's a pain in the neck.

But if Lukas says he's going to try, that's all that really needs to be said. I'm not going to constantly ask him how the progress is going, I'm going to say "Good luck!" and let him know that he has my support in his endeavor.

I totally agree!

This CD is one of the best FSM has ever issued, as far as I'm concerned. Fascinating music, and an essential purchase for any Jarre fan.

I'm probably too late with my comment here, but that hurt me to read Jarre's
Concert Works tanked. I was literally chewing my nails when it was announced,
hoping it wouldn't sell out in the 2 weeks before I had the money to get a copy.

Ok, it's difficult music, but I thought there was more of a fanbase for the composer!
It's a great package all around, and it breaks my heart there may not be another
volume - I thought that Jarre had done some more accessible works for the concert
hall, so I guess those things maybe weren't available to issue? Were all that showed
up on the disc literally all that were left?

I guess years of ingesting Penderecki, Ligeti, Cage, Xenaxis, et al hardened my ears
to Jarre's atonality, so what else can I say.....I like it smile
