Just for fun , what kind of song and possible lyrics would Frank Sinatra sing for "The Manchurian Candidate" which he starred in. "Luck be a Queen of Hearts, Tonite"

Speaking of Nat King Cole, how about the title song
of "Cat Ballou?"

Re: LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING

Sammy Fain is the composer, Paul Francis Webster the lyricist, not the other way around.

Correction made, thanks!

CAT BALLOU is a curious case. Cole's solo hit is available easily, but in the film he and Stubby Kaye had a duet as troubadors throughout the film. I believe that LP has never been CD'd.

And yes, Lord Love Neal Hefti.

All these years I thought Those Magnificent MITFM was scored by Ron Goodwin, not Grainer.
Please verify.

Great list of songs. I would add another composer to this list: Dimitri Tiomkin.
Many of his movies had great songs such as High Noon, O.K. Corral, Giant,
and Friendly Persuasion.

Aargh. The only thing I like better than proofreading is editing.

Joan Hue. Technically, Giant has no songs because none is sung in the film.

Who can forget: "Take my cycle, take the burger but leave me the pickle, but not with my wife you don't." Kind of tugs at your heartstrings doesn't it?

Music: John Williams
Lyrics: Johnny Mercer

The main titles from the original Thomas Crown Affair showcased the song "The Windmills of Your Mind," which won the Academy Award for Best Song in 1968, and awarded to composer Michel Legrand, and lyricists Marilyn and Alan Bergman.

The best of Everything is also a good title song.

Worst title song - the Main Title from Drum Beat (Victor Young) the lyrics are hilarious and so is the arrangement - in four channel stereo !!!!!

then there are the "sorta" title songs - songs not in the film, but just added for commercial recordings to plug the movie.

I actually have such classics as Hawaii, By Love Posessed, Whos afraid of virginia woolf, seventh Voyage of Sinbad and more.
