Before Barbie appeared in videos, GI Joe got an animated series and movie. The toy doesn't necessarily predict how a dramatic adaption will play out. Maybe Barb could meet up with Joe in 1970s Saigon for a whirlwind war-torn romance.
Which chugs along nicely until that man-whore Ken shows up on his effing horse.

Ken was played by Christopher Walken in The Deer Hunter.
True story. As a kid, I really wanted that horse. When my Mom was eventually able to get it for me, my delight was instantly crushed that the only way of having it was that it was sold WITH the Ken doll. To further the disappointment, my young brain realized that while the Ken doll was articulated, the horse was not.
In almost no time at all, I promptly dispatched the Ken doll with some model glue and a match. His imaginary adventures roaming the desert had very real and tragic consequences.
Barbie has been around in 3D form for 20 years! Going back to computer games. I know because I worked on a few! One I can't remember was a deep sea diving game with 3D animation.
While not a 3D game I did work on "Talk With Me Barbie". I did most of the icons for this game. You get a real Barbie doll with the game and the battery went into her thigh.
You worked on a BARBIE toy????? Did that go on your resume?
I'm encouraged by seeing Greta Gerwig as writer-director for this film. I trust her to make a decent picture that doesn't pander to little girls (or anyone else). (It will probably be rated [R]. ]
