Which do you favor? The Nutty Squirrels or Alvin and the Chipmunks?

The Nutty Squirrels sing “Uh-Oh!” Part 1

and the more familiar Part 2

Alvin and the Chipmunks sing "Christmas Don't Be Late"

You’re either Chipmunkish or Squirrelly! Or you’re bi-rodential.

Personally, I prefer the squirrels. I think they're the underdogs, they're more radical since they stuck to scat and didn't sell out. (Of course that might also be why they went straight down the toilet.)

I changed the title in case the original one sounded too controversial. big grin

I adore the Chipmunks, but the Nutty Squirrels' "Bird Watching" LP on Columbia is a bebop tour de force.

Meanwhile, the greatest thing the Chipmunks ever recorded is "Alvin's Orchestra."

And lest we forget, Ross Bagdasarian, AKA David Seville, provides the mission control voice at the beginning of Russ Garcia's outer space masterpiece "Fantastica" (1959), which is better than 99% of the science fiction scores that are routinely discussed around here:

I'll go with the Squirrels. Chipmunks are too small to bother with skinning them while squirrels are meatier.

BTW, thanks for the videos, David!
When I was in, I guess, 2nd grade, a local TV station had a morning show which featured "Uh-Oh" as its theme. I guess I thought it was the chipmunks singing as I was already a fan of them.
I would watch the start of the show as I getting dressed before school just to listen to "Uh-Oh". it must have been 40 years or more before I learned that the song was by the Squirrels.

So, really I have to pick the Chipmunks as my fave.
