Actually "Heaven Is Only One Step Away" belongs between "Clocktower" and "Helicopter", not "Back in Time," which, although heard as a clock radio snippet after "'85 Lone Pine Mall," is best kept for the start of the end credits.

To be really complete you should pop over to iTunes for The Four Aces version of "Mr. Sandman", Fess Parker (R.I.P.) singing "The Ballad of Davy Crockett," and "Pledging My Love" by Johnny Ace.

I program "Doc returns" as the first track of the score cd
It fits better there esp. without the songs.
Wouldn't surprise me if it (or something similar) was planned for the opening until it was decided to go with the clock sounds only

There are currently 877 in stock at Intrada. I think the film score companies need to learn a lesson from this release. This so far seems to have been the absolute perfect quantity to make of this score. Films that have a big geek fanbase outside of normal soundtrack collector circles are probably the ones that need to be made in at least a 10,000 quantity. It's unfortunate that only 5,000 were printed of The Goonies this year when it easily would have matched the sales of Back to the Future. The companies shouldn't need to sell the CD out in just a few days or even months. These big-name films should be a semi-permanent part of the catalog since they can help bring new fans and buyers in. Once Intrada released BTTF and especially after Varese released The Goonies, I got back into soundtrack collecting after a lull and bought a lot more CDs from them and other companies. Of course I found out I had missed so many I wanted like the Karate Kid and had to pay big bucks on eBay for them because the companies don't seem to want to make as much money as possible off of these major movie tie-ins by keeping the CDs in stock. Obviously even Intrada hasn't figured it out yet with their extremely lowballed production of Predator. But I will congratulate them again on the great distribution of BTTF and for giving so many fans the opportunity to enjoy it. This needs to be the model for future releases of scores from films that are not just cult hits but have a large fanbase. I would say one measuring stick to use is how many other collectibles are produced for those films. BTTF and Predator are two properties where the collectibles keep on coming years after the films were out.

That was a very nice listen. I wish I could read music and play an instrument. I'd love to be able to play my favorite scores and songs.

Do it. I picked up a guitar and now I can play my fave music - well some of it.

It's been 4 years since this has been released? Geez...I still see my post on the first page. I remember when this popped up on Intrada's site I literally yelled out and jumped up for joy saying, "YESSSSSSSSS!" and ordered it. I was very ecstatic, still am.

I wonder if since BTTF Part 2 is MCA if they'll release a complete version of it. HOPEFULLY Varèse will release a complete version for BTTF Part 3.

It is because of THIS thread that I actually became a frequent visitor to this board.

It is because of this title, that I started to lurk here every day after that..... studying and looking for such other fantastic titles to arrive!

As we all know now - more titles than I have ever dream of followed!

Who knows? Maybe Back To The Future II and III are on the way!

Happy New Year!

From Douglass Fake at the Intrada forum:

Our 2-CD set for Back To The Future will soon be a part of history. One of our best selling "limited editions" ever, we are just three or four boxes away from hitting the 10,000 unit maximum allowable under the current American Federation of Musicians "historical rate" policy. If you've been sitting on the fence with this one (for reasons I couldn't fathom!) it would be a good idea to pounce now. What remains here in stock is all that's left... and that ain't much.

Because Back To The Future remains one of the most important film scores of the last several decades, we have pursued a new agreement allowing us to bring a single disc release into the marketplace and keep the score available for future generations. This MAF edition will feature the score as presented on CD 1 of the current double-disc set, which is the score as heard in the picture. CD 2 with all of the bonus early recordings will simply go off into that place where, to paraphrase the Doc, "they don't need roads". smile

Thank you all for supporting this magnificent score.

So, to recap: 2-CD version on the way out, 1-CD version to come. If you want all that fantastic alternate material, now's the time to act!

What happened to Intrada's re-release of this from 2015. It was available for a short time and has been out of stock everywhere for a very long time (1 year+ ?). I e-mailed Intrada asking about this a few weeks ago but received no response. Then I saw that they announced reprinting a bunch of titles but Back to the Future is not on the list. Did this completely sell out again or something?

Unless you absolutely need the CD or are opposed to digital albums, Amazon currently has the Intrada re-release for sale on MP3 format.

https://www.amazon.com/Future-Original-Picture-Soundtrack-Expanded/dp/B017ARUHQ2/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1518930412&sr=1-1-mp3-albums-bar-strip-0&keywords=back+to+the+future

They also have Varese's 2-disc expanded edition of PART III available: https://www.amazon.com/Back-Future-Part-III-Anniversary/dp/B0169OW1UC/ref=pd_sim_340_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0169OW1UC&pd_rd_r=3EMTGTJPQJXQSGJGX1YX&pd_rd_w=tAzUH&pd_rd_wg=JYFMh&psc=1&refRID=3EMTGTJPQJXQSGJGX1YX

For some reason, Intrada's expanded edition of PART II is no longer listed on Amazon, but Google Play still sells the digital copy: https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Alan_Silvestri_Back_To_The_Future_Part_II_Original?id=B7og3xkw6g5hv3ygjusbfk2vcr4

Well I've owned the expanded part II and part III on CD for a long time so... Anyway, I've gone and purchased it directly from Amazon.de, it was the last copy available and it cost €41.35 including delivery. Knowing my luck it now gets reprinted and is readily available for $20, or maybe it really is gone for good. Who knows? I'm happy to have finally closed the book on this great series.

P.S. There are fakes available on ebay.

A re-release of disc one would be great. I traded my sealed copy some time ago. I don't need the alts either.

I'm really loving the new complete B2TF. I especially love the different orchestration on the alternate Clocktower piece.

?

Right.
This release is one of the few expansions where alternate cues are definitely worth including.
I love the inventive use keyboards and synths on this early version (starts about 5:05) and the more restrained use of the main theme. Great contrapuntual writing also!

Check it out!
