I would not be surprised if Vangelis originally wanted to release a Bounty soundtrack -- that extended "suite" which follows the end title seems very-much like the B-side of an album (much like the suite which makes-up the B-side of Chariots of Fire). Given that Dino DeLaurentiis insisted on popular artists to score his movies at that time, it's a fair bet that hiring Vangelis was his idea -- the potential for a best-selling album being a major incentive. The details are anyone's guess, but I suspect it was another "tug of war" between production company and record label, prompting Vangelis to throw up his hands in disgust and say "Lets just forget the whole thing!" Fortunately we have Twilight Time's Blu-ray. It is missing the 20-minute suite, and it may be mono, but it's the real McCoy.

Another instance where a period piece is ' ruined' by " anachronistic" synth. Right Brother Sol?

Another instance where a period piece is ' ruined' by " anachronistic" synth. Right Brother Sol? Man, you are SO wrong. I'm so glad Williams or some other guy didn't write a silly orchestral score for this.

Another instance where a period piece is ' ruined' by " anachronistic" synth. Right Brother Sol? Not at all. The music adds a claustrophobic atmosphere to the film brilliantly. You can virtually feel the sweat and heat in the main title. Vangelis did a brilliant job. I was being ironic.....

I had a feeling you may have been ironic, but I couldn't be sure...
