I wasn't trying to list every western he ever scored...just enough to point out that he was well established in the genre before Will Penny, although I think that might be his best. Really hope we get some more Raksin on CD, including especially that one which probably has better sales potential than most.

"A David Raksin Western, who knew?"

Answer: A fellow named Will Penny.

I finally watched this, and tracked the cues to "tape off TV." It's really great Raksin!

I'm only halfway finished, and it's clocking in at just over 25 minutes. This would make a great cd.

This is a score I would love to have on CD. With Intrada finding ON THE WATERFRONT and THE CAINE MUTINY in the Columbia vault from the mid-50's, I guess there is still hope that something still exists from JUBAL that Intrada would be interested in releasing.

Just finished! Taped off TV, this is 52 minutes of music. It would sound so much better in a cd!

Watching this from the freshly launched Criterion app, looks good and sounds even better, we need this score released!

9 years after first posting this thread, we are still waiting. During the past 9 years Intrada has released a few golden age scores from the Columbia vault. If anything of Jubal exists musically then Intrada is the label to do it , IF THEY WANT TO. Western scores still sell well.

If Intrada or any other Label do manage to release it then they can count me in! I would also be interested in a reissue/first time on CD, of Will Penny (1967).

Glad you mentioned WILL PENNY also,Niall. If Bruce will come up with the Fox box , what has been a pretty dismal year so far for me ,as primarily a golden age fan ,will have a complete positive turnaround.

Yes Cody, it's been slow for Golden Age CD's for the past year or so. Let's hope we'll see a few this year, with KING OF KINGS, Intrada Friedhofer, Hammer Horror, DIAL M FOR MURDER, Intrada Max Steiner, Bruce's Fox Box and maybe others?

Niall keeps lighting candles ...... but puts no coins in the box! smile
