He wrote one of the most touching scores ever--To Kill a Mockingbird.

And one of the best western scores--Mag 7.

And two of the best jazz scores--Man With the Golden Arm and Walk on the Wild Side.

And the best POW score==The Great Escape.

So, Name Your Number One EB...And Why?

Easy. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. One of the greatest musical depictions of childhood experiences -- both the warm and nostalgic, and the dark and unsettling. That it happens to have John Williams (who is MY no. 1 greatest composer ever!) on piano is just the icing on the cake.

... and SPACEHUNTER: ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDEN ZONE is the greatest film score ever!

It's not the greatest score ever, but SPACEHUNTER is a pretty cool soundtrack.
Fantastic 'western in space' vibe to it.
Some composers live a whole lifetime and don't write anything near as good as SPACEHUNTER, which is just 'another good score' on EB's vast and impressive film music resume.
