Could Lukas or SAE perhaps give a heads-up if there are any FSM releases coming this week, or when they are coming approximately? I would hate to order the Varèse releases now and then see that the next releases are just around the corner.

Cheers!

And anybody besides me really miss the clever clues we used to get?

Mr. Lukas is sorry they couldn't come today, but he promises they will come tomorrow...

Here, a little to nibble on.

5 CD Schifrin. Not sure of ETA besides this month.

5 CD Schifrin.

Any idea what that could be? I hope it doesn't include "The Cincinnati Kid". I'd like that one - but I wouldn't buy a five disk set for it...

I hope it's some of his Universal output:

Charley Varrick,
Joe Kidd
Coogan's Bluff etc.

Having said that these releases are coming so thick and fast that I have a backlog of unopened CDs dating back several years in some cases. I'd like a break of a few months to catch up with my listening!

Maybe a mission impossible tv score box set?

Did schifrin score entire episodes to fill 5 cds or did he just provide the theme?

Oh wow! Terrific news, dying to know what the titles are! Whatever they are once they receive the full FSM treatment this will be a 'must have' purchase, no doubt about that!

As far as I know he did few episodes. Jerry Fielding composed some music for some episodes, too.

FSM hasn't done any Universal scores (they've only just started on the Paramount ones!) so I doubt it.

I wasn't expecting a Schifrin box set, but I'm almost sure it would include Cincinnati Kid because that was the one Schifrin score included on the Lion's Roar 2 disc set from Rhino years ago. Much as Varese's 20th Century Fox compilation album (that one only one disc) became the pointer towards what scores were going to be released later, so has this MGM set functioned with FSM releases. It was only a question of when this one was coming out, in my opinion, and it will probably headline the set. I'm pretty sure that this was the only remaining score to be released that was included on that set, before the 40s scores by Stothart, Bassman, Ward, and Waxman, which may not all survive in music-only form (though clearly Random Harvest and The Yearling did, so we may see a few more from the set yet).

Scratch that. I don't think Andre Previn's Designing Woman has been released yet. That was the only other one so maybe we'll see that on a 5 disc Previn set to follow the 5 disc Raksin and Schifrin ones.

"As far as I know he did few episodes. Jerry Fielding composed some music for some episodes, too. "

You think there's enough schifrin in mission impossible to fill 5 cds? Maybe its a volume one with only schifrins contribution and a volume two with material from fielding and others comes out when it is successful?

A Mission: Impossible set would be incredible but does anybody know who owns the rights to the original recordings (or for that matter, the original albums) at this point? I know for a while there was some dispute over ownership of the series itself which is why it took a while to come out on DVD.

Na Andi I doan' think so. Someone else suggested his scores for

Telefon
Pretty Maids All in a Row
The Mask of Sheba
Rhino
Once a Thief
Earth II

I'd take any Schifrin.

DAY OF THE ANIMALS!

Day of the Animals and Airport '79 are my two most-wanted Schifrin scores.

With every soundtrack I buy of him, I have come to like Schifrins music less and less but I still would like to have "The mean season".
