Agree with Tonerow that Once a Thief is the real gem here.    Posted:   May 21, 2012 - 8:07 AM     By:   Bob Bryden   (Member) Thanking Lukas again!!: I never 'got' Lalo Schifrin back in the day or even recently - although I thought he did a marvelous, under-rated job with the 'Rush Hour' movies. Because I had a hankering for some swinging 60's music I decided to pick up the FSM 5-CD Lalo set. Through the years I've had - and got rid of - Lalo albums like 'The Liquidator', 'Sol Madrid' and 'Once a Thief', etc. Now I understand why I never liked those albums. They were comprised of most of the source music or re-recordings from those films with little or no of the dramatic underscore. Lalo's dramatic underscores to 'Rhino', 'Venetian Affair', 'Once a Thief', etc. are a major revelation. He's up there with the greats as far as I'm concerned now. I don't know. There are a few more Lalo scores from that library that would be available but others that I had planned for a "Vol 2" I released separately—Pretty Maids All in a Row, Telefon. Lukas I like that "I don't know" it gives us hope. All great records, and one of my favorites is the New Orleans Funeral March from the Cincy Kid, and with the visuals of the procession in the film, this is really timeless stuff. But, if anyone has the set, I made a pdf of the relevant artifacts, etc. It's basically the same way I did the Ben Hur one.
