Thomas has expressed on his blog that he wants his upcoming solo release, Illusions, to be differentiated from TSFH. So this is a topic for solo Bergersen as a composer.
Bio: Thomas Bergersen was born in 1980 in Norway. He co-founded the trailer music company Two Steps from Hell with Nick Phoenix in 2006. They've released more than 10 production albums and one public album, Invincible, a commercial "best of" compilation. In 2009 Thomas and Nick relocated their studio to Santa Monica, Los Angeles--specifically to Hans Zimmer's studio at Remote Control Productions. Thomas wrote some additional tracks for Zimmer's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but as of yet there have been no further collaborations.
Thomas has also scored the feature-length documentary The Human Experience and part of the video game ToCA Race Driver: Grid.
Upcoming public releases: -The Human Experience: The folks behind the film are working to get an official soundtrack released. -TSFH Public Album #2: Thomas has announced that he and Nick plan to release another public album summer of 2011 -Illusions: Thomas' first solo album. This project is separate from TSFH. Formerly titled "Nemesis II," this album should be released in 2-3 months.
News: If the TSFH fanpage reaches 20,000 fans, Thomas and Nick will release Illusions and all of TSFH's future public albums as physical CD releases.
Would you like me to update this post with a list of Thomas' compositions that are up for free and legal download across the net?
I'm not really a TSFH fan, or even a fan of Bergersen, but his score for THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE is bloody gorgeous. The cues "Exaltation" and "The Hidden Rainforest" are just spectacular. It helps that he is using a traditional orchestra. Pure joy.
Bergersen has a new single out called "Love Suite" from his upcoming Humanity III album. It is Bergersen in his full-blown John Williams-mode, with live orchestra and choir, an absolute knockout. Highly recommended!
A query to those (few) of you who know about Bergersen and like his music...what's your verdict on his four Humanity albums? I enjoy each of them a lot, but intriguingly wouldn't rank them among his best work... Anyhoo, mind's foggy today, so I thought about collecting some opinions from you guys. Fire away!
