I'm not familiar with the film, but I've been enjoying the score since I received it from SAE on Friday. From the few opening seconds, I can tell it's John Scott; there are some stylistic similarities to his Final Countdown music. Apart from that, the jazzy/disco orientated pieces - which I enjoyed very much actually - remind me a lot of the music he wrote for the Bruton library in the late 'seventies. Scott usually writes strong melodies, but also adds plenty of rhythm where appropriate. I'm particularly pleased to see that for this CD, Scott was invited to write his own introduction to the score for the booklet. A very nice CD package all round then. And good to see more John Scott on CD too.

This is one very good soundtrack. It reminds me a lot of Michael Small's scoring techniques in The Parallax View and Marathon Man. I've liked his other scores and wanted it since it was first announced back whenever. Haven't seen much talk about this one, though. Don't let this one get by you for too long. N.P. CLEOPATRA JONES

Just ordered this one; one of the two CDs of Scott´s I still don´t own. It has some wonderfully groovy 70´s symphonic disco a la Barry White. And a gorgeous love theme to boot. It's an excellent score - one of my favorites by John Scott. I'm surprised this CD didn't get more attention than it did.

I've just finished my 5th play-through of this score and created a 29 minute programme for my 'on-the-go' player which bounces as tight as a classic Varese 30 minute CD! Once again (and as per usual, it would seem with Mr Scott) it has a truly addictive Main Theme (this one with a slightly cool jazz inflection) and a melancholy/wistful Love Theme (barely used in the film?) that stay with the listener long after the music has stopped. Throw in some Michael Small-like suspense licks, Bill Conti propelled pop/orch power chords and this is another winner from the old Bristolian. It's been a true delight getting into the music of John Scott these past months...and there's loads more ahead for me! NP - The Final Countdown (John Scott)

Some of the jazz/rock touches might put fans of Scott's more 'orchestral' music off North Dallas Forty, but actually he doesn't overdo it too much, and for me it's one of his most enjoyable scores. I far prefer listening to this score than Shoot to Kill, which I always have difficulty getting into.
