P.S. Importing this through Amazon was a big deal back then. Customs had no idea and actually broke open the box but I managed to fix it and make it new as mention in the old blocked thread.

Ouch! I wonder what they thought might be in that box.

In my case the guys at customs were super nice and told me that in their eyes this was not a CD but a furniture(!) purchase, which decreased the costs significantly for me!

Never loved the guys from customs more! wink

Less customs on furniture than on CDs? :-)

I keep regluing it. I just opened the top panel to check n replaced the battery and two wires connecting the circuitry came off?

Can anyone share the pic of their circuitry from the battery side so I know where to reconnect the red wire "D. It will need soldiering.

They really should have sent it with a repair kit or at least a catalog of spare parts. At this point, I don’t even dare touch or open this big box anymore—I'm genuinely afraid that if I do, I’ll be left holding an entire wall in my hands.

I just checked and indeed the rates seem to be nowadays the same.
So either the rates have changed over the past 15 years or the guy at customs indeed saw me as the starving student that I was back then and tried to help me out there quiet a bit.
You decide which story is more likely. wink

In any case I'll try to dig out the customs bill in the next days to see what it says and what the rates actually were. smile

It was definitely exciting when it came out, and especially when I got it. It arrived unscathed on a rainy day and it was nice to dig into it. But the box itself is so fragile, that once I read the book and ripped the expanded CDs (actually I just used the USB drive it came with) the box itself was never touched again other than an occasional reglueing of the panels.

I’m still pissed an expanded Pee-wee hasn’t come out. frown

I'm sure there are a few people on this board who've wished for an expanded Pee-wee.

Count me among them. Hopefully it happens this year for the 40th anniversary.

Appreciate and sympathize with all of your earnest replies, but I’m really here to express appreciation for Doc Loch’s double entendre

And Pee-wee -- or at least Paul Reubens -- did 'come out' posthumously earlier this year, so maybe we're getting closer?...

Alright, I checked and import sales taxes have indeed been 19%.
However custom duties (which I also had to pay due to the box being so pricey) had indeed been greatly reduced. wink

I am sure that 0 meets the condition "less than 100".

Alternatively known as Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
