Can anyone tell me if the music used during the montage of film clips, when Chaplin receives his academy award, is available anywhere?

Best regards,

Derek

I think the title of this track is "smile". PLACE IN FILM WHERE YOU CAN HEAR THIS TRACK
At the end while the elder Charles Chaplin is watching a montage of his films and at the end credits

TRIVIA
Originally this piece was composed by Charles Chaplin for the 1936 film Modern Times
The version of this song with lyrics was used in the film My Girl 2(1992)

on of the best score written by John Barry on his last decade...

Thanks for the reply, however I think this track is featured when the "what happened to each character" captions are shown. It then goes in to the end title, as you rightly stated.

The music I am after is immediately before the track you have posted and features the medley covering the clips shown from Chaplin's films and ends with the scene from "The Circus"

Regards,

Welcome to the board Mr Barnett!

Not sure which bit you mean but it is one of best JB scores I have!

Have you got the original album?

That music during that clip is not available as all it was was snipets of Chaplins own film scores put together.

Everyone loves his Smile tune, but one cue from, I think The Circus which I think is outstanding, is the cue that plays during the final scene, when he picks up a paper and then kicks it with his shoe and then walks away. Just gorgeous on so many levels.

Mr Kelly - my thanks!

drivingmissdaisy - You're absolutely right, the piece of music you refer to is indeed from The Circus, being both the final scene from that film and from "Chaplin". My own favourite piece of music is that used from The Kid.

I believe you are correct in that the music is a medley put together from various Chaplin films. I was hoping there may have been a recording of it knocking around somewhere!

Is there any other significant cues missing from the OST album? Any film versions and other missing cues? Ive yet to see the movie again (It has been quite a while) Lets hope we get a new remastered and expanded cd some day soon. This ia great and rich sounding Barry score.

I don't believe there is anything significant missing from the OST, just one or two brief cues used. I'm sure there is another thread where this was discussed before (I *think* by Stephen Woolston), but I can't find it. Unless that OST CD is OOP and/or hard to find, I see little need for another release.

There are some short cues missing from the CD such as the newsreel shot of immigrants ferrying past the Statue of Liberty and thd passage of time sequence where Chaplin falls asleep late in the film. But I don't think it's a massive amount of missing in minutes and the album is well designed as is.

An expanded and remastered CD perhaps recreating the aforementioned academy awards medley would be most welcome but I can think of higher priorities.

Cheers

Terrific score, I just rewatched the film and only 5-7 mins., maybe, are missing as Stephen noted.
Still would welcome a deluxe / remaster on this, if just for Jon Burlingame notes & to get this score back into circulation.
