Yes, Watertower used the 1997 Rhino edition. For FSM we redid the entire thing with Bruce Botnick.

Not a huge sound difference, but sounds great considering the source.

I have the Rhino, which I recently received and is the only copy of the score I have. I was advised to leave the FSM alone and stick with what I have until there's another release.

Or grab the FSM if it's reasonably affordable (under $40)... smile

The FSM is far less hissy than the Rhino - the music is sharper.

What about the Sony Classical – 88697638052 edition ?

The FSM sounds far, far superior to the Rhino. I'm sort of surprised anybody would think otherwise.

No one does; I only advised her since she already had and enjoyed the Rhino (which is the complete score), she shouldn't spend outrageous amounts of money on the FSM because I think it will either be reprinted eventually, or reissued by another label since it's one of Goldsmith's most popular works. Other things she doesn't have should be prioritized for spending, is all I advised.

Not you, but OneBuck said there isn't a huge sound difference. And I think there is.

Big, big difference.

Arrgh! And I got so lucky with both Papillon and Damnation Alley.

This is a pretty darn expensive item (FSM) so I think I'll wait. I've some Jerry action (First Blood) and Red Pony on the way, so I'm more than good for now smile

I remember when Rhino released Poltergeist to CD back in 1997. I was elated! Finally, we got it expanded and in good sound. It was very good for it's day. I definitely wouldn't balk at getting a copy of it (or the recent re-print). Admittedly, the FSM is more comprehensive but the Rhino is worthy.
