I currently have 5 soundtracks to films whose title begin with the letter "Z":

  • ZULU DAWN by Elmer Bernstein
  • ZONE TROOPERS by Richard Band
  • ZODIAC by David Shire
  • ZIGZAG by Oliver Nelson
  • ZATHURA by John Debney

I used to own ZORBA THE GREEK and Z (both by Mikis Theodorakis) on LP, so I would have had 7 albums now if I hadn't purged these 2...

...how many "Z"s do you have?

Just one, the old Cerberus LP of ZULU DAWN.

I sure hope this doesn't open up the door for individual threads covering the rest of the letters of the alphabet!

I also recommend Wojciech Kilar's Zemsta to the discerning listener.

To the obvious (for me!) albums of Zulu ... Silva & Fantastic Voyage OST releases, plus the Silva re-recording, I can add:

Zanna Bianca Alla Riscossa (plus In Nome Del Popolo Italiano) - Carlo Rustichelli; and
Zenabel - Bruno Nicolai (with Ennio Morricone conducting)
    both on the Saimel label.

I also have two cues from the score (A) Zed & Two Noughts - Michael Nyman.

and, from vinyl, a cover version of Z - Mikis Theodorakis

Oh, and music from (The) Zoo Gang - Ken Thorne (from the Network compilation release: The Music of ITC)

    Letter Q or X next ...?

No one's mentioned Zio Tom (goodbye Uncle Tom) by Riz Ortolani yet? Also, there's Andrey Tarkovsky Vol. 4, which is identified on the spine as Zerkalo/Stalker.

What about CDs starting with X? Just XTRO on vinyl for me. Wasn't some of the music from the Xena TV series released on CD?

Zigzag Zodiac Zulu Zombie sounds like a great title for an exploitation film!

I have to say that the movie that I immediately thought of starting with a Z was the Sean Connery sci-fi debacle "Zardoz". I don't know if the music is any good, apparently, it's only been released on lp.

I'm not aware of any real soundtrack LP for "Zardoz." There was a French 45 with two themes on it (one based on Beethoven, I believe):

And there was a David Munrow theme from "Zardoz" on a 1979 Japanese compilation LP of science fiction themes [Mu Land 7017], played by The Electoru Polyphonic Orchestra:
