Just because I've seen drivingmissdaisy's love for this score expressed here, thought I'd give the end credits of the film a listen. Quite enjoyed the high noted staccato piano music box style playing, and it sounds like it could go one for a bit longer based on the fade out in the credits.

You can check out the end titles here and scroll to the end if you're curious like me. big grin

Music to my ears! It's a fun little creepy movie from the early early 80's. Scared me as a kid. smile

If you are interested in the creepy piano part (which I personally LOVE) I just transcribed it for piano if you want a copy. I loved it enough learn it from the dvd.

"Scoring isn't precise, but it supports with enthusiasm, offering a near-constant presence in the feature, keeping passable instrumentation."

"The Hearse" is a very pretty horror score. I would love a release of it.

By the way, I don't understand the Blu-Ray.com quotes above at all - "scoring isn't precise" and "passable instrumentation" - as both the spotting and the orchestration are pleasingly old school.

So when is this score being released, Peter? big grin

I've only heard the clip above and I like it... but I'd buy this CD on principle alone.

Webster Lewis scored another film for Crown International Pictures, "My Tutor," which I haven't seen & it's a different genre, but because it's the same composer perhaps that would be a good pairing for a potential release.

Or one could pair it with another Crown International horror/thriller score. Other than "The Hearse," does anybody here recall a particularly good/great score that a Crown horror/thriller had?
