I love all the complete, deluxe editions of film scores that are coming out to replace the old "LP program" CDs. But like most of us I can't buy everything. This is a partial list of titles where I chose to stick with the old CD: ALIENS BASIC INSTINCT BATMAN (FSM) 1966 BATMAN 1989 CARRIE [Edit: I have since upgraded to the Kritzerland CD.] JAWS (MCA) THE OMEGA MAN [Edit: I finally bought the 2.0 version.] POLTERGEIST (Rhino) Regrets? I've had a few. But then again, I've also regretted a couple of double dips I went for and found that it wasn't needed. But most often, I have upgraded to the Fancy New and been happy as hell. So, what titles have you decided not to replace?

Predator and Robocop were not worth updating for mere fragments of additional music. The advantages of those new albums were improvement in sound quality. The new Predator was from a digital source. True. The new Predator was from a digital source. Then again, the new Star Trek II was from an analog source. The cd sounds fine to me if not better. digital vs. analog... un unresolved debate. Cheers!

The advantage of RoboCop was also a superior assembly of the score. Since receiving Intrada's edition, I've already listened to it more times than I ever listened to the Varese disc.

True. The new Predator was from a digital source. Then again, the new Star Trek II was from an analog source. The cd sounds fine to me if not better. digital vs. analog... un unresolved debate. Cheers! I'm pretty sure digital audio tape (DAT) didn't exist in the early 80s... it was a relatively new technology in the *late* 80s, however. Wasn't Predator one of the first film scores recorded on DAT? Sigh! Unfortunately, my answer will betray my advancing age... Star Trek II was a digital recording. I had purchased the LP in 1982 (yes, the LP) and the sound was tremendous. Then, in the early nineties, GNP issued a Cd which always left me wanting and never really captured the vibrancy of the long playing record. Thank goodness... Lukas Kendall came along and issued an expanded recording of STII TWOK and everything became right again. The source this time was analog. Hence, my digital vs. analog comment. I was around when the cd first appeared on the scene and I quickly adopted the new format. My friends thought I was crazy because in their words "the LP will go on forever" or something along those lines. Well, a quarter of a century later, the cd is no longer state of the art... Times they are a changing (fast). Cheers!
