I've recently bought two soundtracks Young Indiana Jones Chronicles Vol. 3 and 4 for a fantastic price of 14 EUR from german amazon.de. I should have know better that something is wrong, because these are rare long out of print Varese OOP soundtracks. You can see what came into my mail: two burned CDs with crap black cd artwork, one page spread booklet and white inlay cover. These soundtracks are from label COLOSSEUM - I don't know if they have a permission to release Varese's soundtracks on burned cds or what, but this is clearly a bootleg.
I'm just pissed off. I probably won't be returning them, because music is so damn good. Anybody has similar experiences with this label?
It's not bootleg. It is on demand CD. You must read Product Information below.
This product is manufactured on demand using CD-R disc can be played on most CD players. Whether your CD player play the CD-R format shown, it can ask the user manual.
Volume 3 is the easiest and cheapest of the four (five if you count that "Best Of" album) volumes of music, so I think you can find that one laying around for its original price. Volume 4 is the rarest of the lot, though.
Still, I'd hate to have this happen to me. I'd say rip them to MP3 on your harddrive, toss out the CD/Rs and look for original copies. And yeah - be aware of the whole Amazon CD On Demand stuff.
COLOSSEUM is official partner/representative of Varese in Europe. And I can't believe that THIS CD somehow connected with them. I ordered Omen: Trilogy directly from their site year ago - their edition is identical to Varese, but printed in Europe - I have no complaints on quality... Most likely, someone uses their name for b...tlegs. But you can ask them from official site - http://www.colosseum.de - they always answer any questions about their CDs. But if this CD REALLY comes from them - I'm a little disappointed... ps On their site 3rd part of Young Indiana Jones Chronicles is sold out too...
As JB Fan said: Colosseum is the European distributor of Varèse Sarabande. Whenever you buy a Varese CD in Europe you get one which is made by Colosseum.
The Young Indiany Jones CDs doesn't look like Colosseum CDs. I guess they were manufactured by Amazon.de under the licence of Colosseum.
By the way, the Colosseum online shop is reliable. I would ask them.
What's so bad about CD on demand? It's cheaper than pressed. Maybe not as durable, but that has to be proven really. You get OOP stuff. And it looks like you even got an ok booklet! Other than you not being aware that it is what it is (which I can understand your being frustrated about) I'd like to hear reasonable argument against it.
Amazon UK offers volumes 1 and 2 of this for a surprisingly cheap price and gives the release date as 2010. No mention of them being CDRs. Since I have none of them (and would like them) I might order them and find out.

I own some Colosseum Young Indiana Jones Chronicles volumes. They look totally different from the ones you have received. What I have are NOT CD-R and liner notes booklets have plenty of pages. I imagine they are identical to the Varese edition. I can post a picture if you wish. I just don't know what the heck they shipped you.
Thanks to all for sharing this information. It's great to see these getting another release of any sort.
I'm a big fan of the music of YIJC and lucky enough to have picked up all four soundtracks back when they were newly released in stores. I recently put together youngindianajonesmusic.com to consolidate information about the music in the series. (I'd appreciate any feedback, corrections, or additions to the information on the site as well.) I'll be tracking this thread closely as more information is discovered.
Here it is how an original Colosseum YIJC should look like:
No, here's how a factory pressed Colosseum YIJC should look like. There both original.
Whatever you say. I prefer my "factory pressed" version anyway.
Agreed. But your choice of words made it sound like the other one was fake. And it is not, I reckon.
By the way, I'm a bit surprised Varèse / Colosseum are offering CD-on-demand through Amazon. Although the newly limited-cd editions (the "4200-series") came off as an experiment in comparing the sales next to downloads, I didn't see this one coming. Especially because it's not availeble as a download OR through Colosseum themselves! Curious how this turns out!
