"Walking Distance" is very good indeed. My favorite "short" Herrmann score remains "The Lonely" from THE TWILIGHT ZONE. I'm also partial to his HITCHCOCK HOUR scores "Change of Addresss," "Where the Woodbine Twineth," and "The Jar."

I wholeheartedly agree.

This is important from a film music as well as classical music perspective.

I just finished listening to the new Varese Vol 1 cd of Bernard Herrmann's music for The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Based on what I have heard, I think that we are going to be spoiled absolutely rotten as film music fanatics with incredible new releases of Herrmann music in 2011-2012. I highly recommend buying this release. It's wonderful.

Congratulations to Robert Townsend and the Varese Sarabande team on a great job.

Well, I guess THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR VOL 1 wins hands down as the most popular and discussed release of Varese's last set of club releases.

I had this in the player most of the day, honoring the centennial of the maestro's birth! This really is a fantastic release. Thanks, Varese!

I see that the notes say "This first volume focuses on Herrmann." Which indicates that Volume 2 will feature other composers who contributed to the series.

I am sure you realize you were wrong about other composers would be on this CD set.

Vol.2 is outstanding by the way.

I suppose a Vol 3 is possible with non Herrmann scores.

Gary S. stated "I suppose a Vol 3 is possible with non Herrmann scores".

I certainly hope so with Leonard Rosenman,Lalo Schifrin and Lyn Murray amongst the composers on the other 76 episodes of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

It will probably depend greatly on how well these first two volumes have sold and will sell.

I noticed Vol. 2 is 2,000 copies and Vol. 1 was 3,000 copies so here's hoping they both sell out.

How are these selling? I haven't gotten any of them. I've been tempted but for some reason can't bring myself to hit the "order" button.

I got Vol. 3 and enjoy it but it really does make the Herrmann volumes sound even better.

Definitely my favourite soundtrack release of last year. Although part 2 and the Herrmann Foxbox come in close as well.
