La La sold 3000 copies in one day. They send some to other soundtrack outlets. Plus the number they sold at the LA screening. There can't be many left.

Question regarding the notes on the back of the CD: Tracks 18 and 22 include Deep in the Heart of Texas and Sound Off and are designated as written by others. I'm just curious why these were credited this way instead of "including" or "arranged by JW" as with tracks 13 and 27?
It's because the published song titles were carried over as cue titles, and therefore the songwriters have to be credited in that way. This is different from quoting an existing tune within a cue titled by Williams. Public domain melodies didn't need any attribution but within the liner notes we mention the origins of these pieces.
The sound is spectacular, the artwork gorgeous and liner notes are top notch. I've always loved the 1941 march as one of Williams' best tunes ever, and this is opening up the rest of the score for me, drawing me into the score in a way the LP never really did, in addition to making the original album sound better than ever.
This is excellent stuff, really, textbook example of how a deluxe edition should be done!
Now...if we can just get the movie on Blu Ray. Tried watching the collector's edition DVD last night and was surprised at how awful it looks. It wasn't even cleaned up for the DVD, full of specks and dirt and scratches. I couldn't sit and enjoy it. Great documentary but the feature is unwatchable

Yeah, the DVD transfer isn't even anamorphic. Despite my so-so opinion of the film itself, I'd still buy it on Blu-Ray... but I hope we get both versions via seamless branching. Universal included both versions of The Blues Brothers on Blu-Ray but as completely separate presentations. They had to leave off the lossless audio track because there was no room for one.
And the documentary on 1941 is great but as much as I'm a sucker for this stuff, I think it drags a little. It could be spruced up with some more music or photos intercut with the interview footage. I think Bob Gale speaks for something like 10 minutes without one cutaway.
Oh yeah, to MM and the gang at La-La Land, this album is great! Keep up the good work!

Yes. The theatrical cut runs about 133 minutes while the extended cut runs about 148 minutes.

Totally agree. It's absurd that they call the DVD the COLLECTOR'S EDITION when the version is a letterboxed format on a 4x3 ratio screen. No matter how hard you try, you can't get the video to expand properly on a 16x9 screen. On the plus side the documentary is fun and informative. Now with this CD release I would expect a Blu-Ray version before Christmas.
