My brother had introduced me to Departure From The Northern Wasteland back in 78n or 79, whenever the LP was out, and I was mesmerized. This was actually a year or so before I had even heard of TD. The album instantly became a favorite and I wore out a few LP copies before hunting down the then-hard-to-find CD in the 90’s.

So when Xcept One came out it was a huge disappointment, none of that liquid Berlin school influence was there, the album might have gotten half a dozen plays before it went to the bottom of the closet. Then again, The Blob left me cold as well, as did Dark Skies.

With an album as successful as Departure, I do wonder why he’d never returned to that sound afterwards. Everything after Departure , for me, has been generic and uninspired.

Are you MikeP's brother?

Heh....no I was at work and had forgotten my login, so I set up a new one on my workstation at the office. big grin
