There's a difference between an artist enlisting the help of someone to prepare a canvas or frame an artwork or mix some colors or attend to the readiness of the brushes... and having someone perform the brushstrokes for him.
And once again Thor with a doozy. Who needs an education? Anyone can just wing it!
More or less, yes. Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding. You can have all the education in the world, and still be a lousy film composer. Vice versa, you can have no education whatsoever, and be a master film composer.

But yes — if you’re talented and you create some great music, why in the world should I care if you have a degree?
Thank God Brian Eno didn't have any musical training*. Otherwise we would have been deprived if such classics as ANOTHER GREEN WORLD...APOLLO..MUSIC FOR AIRPORTS..et.al. Brm
* when he joined ROXY MUSIC, Eno couldn't I play a single instrument. When he became their synth player they had to put numbers on the keys so he would know which ones to press!
