2008 is where I come in. I guess I had just started perusing the FSM forum though I have no idea what brought me here in the first place. I remember the "Blue Box" rumors and when the Superman set was announced, I was on the fence about it simply because of my lackluster financial situation at the time.
But once I saw the photos of the set on CapedWonder.com, I knew I had to have it. It's still one of the crown jewels in my ever-expanding music collection.
I wonder if there are still replacements for the Superman book available. My book (first edition) was fine back then, I think. But after I took it out of the box a few weeks ago again, I've noticed that all pages are loose. They don't glue at the back of the book anymore and are only holding together by those twines.
Man, I can't believe that my favorites keep selling in the lower range. 2500 Under Fire when most Goldsmith sells 3000 in an instant? 1500 of the melody everywhere disc John Paul Jones/Parish?
Eye of the Devil and Shaft in the same year! Bold choices and scores I love. These two have sold better than I thought they would, given the decidedly un-funky and un-jazzy nature of the Hobbit, Jedi, and Vulcan worshiping hordes around here. Johnny Pate's scores are among my favorites for any TV show and that's saying something, given my love-hate relationship with Isaac Hayes' legendary theme song; sometimes I can't stand to listen to it, other times I play it while driving my gold-plated Cadillac.
So that's the reason to my extra Blue Box book i received when i asked for an PDF of the book
But having two books is fine and way better than a PDF-Copy of the notes - the real book can be safe in the box and i can read the notes in the "extra" book while hearing the score
Finally got around to ordering the Blue Box and recived it last week. What an achievement this set is; the book is nothing short of brilliant and the whole set looks stunning. Thanks for doing a second pressing on this one and glad it's been such a good seller.

I know the problem. I am scared to open the book in case it splits. If there are any replacement books available, I would like one too please. Despite that the music is sensational, particulary Superman IV. RIP Alexander Courage.
Eye Of The Devil is an excellent score. When the soundtrack was released, coincidentally I had seen the film a few days before for the first time and was instantly drawn to its plot and music. I was very surprised when it was announced. Who would have thought. I had to have it. A favorite FSM release. If I had not watched the movie perhaps I would have delayed getting the cd. Try watching the movie if you have second thoughts about buying the cd. When this sells out, I doubt if it will ever get re-released by any label. It's a shame to miss on this one.
As far as blaxploitation film scores, these are a favorite. I buy whatever blax music I can get my hands on. I'm glad to hear that Lukas shares the same enthusiasm over blax and I'm very appreciative of having him produce SHAFT and CLEOPATRA JONES in such a grand way. Excellent releases! I don't believe anyone else besides FSM from the familiar soundtrack labels have released other blaxploitation soundtracks. I just wish we had seen more blaxploitaion from FSM. I would have liked to had seen SHEBA BABY released on cd with additional music if possible.
