Interesting point nerfT. I already had his classic Americana scores on LP (Reivers, Cowboys, Missouri Breaks) and cassette taped from the TV (Conrack, Tom Sawyer, Man Who Loved Cat Dancing) when this score came out, so hearing a return to that joyous sound, after his winning streak on monster blockbusters and dark gothic outings was a feeling to be cherished. The slightly jazzy/bluesy Love Theme was the bit I liked least (at first), but all the other tracks like Pony Ride, Ancestral Home, Farm To Factory etc were great to my ears (I agree the Tractor Scene track is pretty dull - it also went pretty much unused in the film). While the film is largely forgotten, the music is still remembered (in our house at least).

I want this, too. I hope the Universal fire didn't claim this one.

Hmm....I think the existing CD sounds fine. We all know that's what you think, Thor. You needn't waste keystrokes over it. Lol! Come back,Ron!

If I'm ever resurrected someday I hope my papers read, "remixed by Mike Matessino from studio elements vaulted in pristine condition."

When I was a kid my mom ordered a pizza and sent me to pick it up. Since the pizza joint was next to a record store, I popped in for a second and found that they had the new John Williams soundtrack from The River. But I did not have enough money of my own to afford it, so I filched some of the change from the pizza money my mom gave me so I could. My mom was also a fan of John Williams so I hoped she'd be pleased. She wasn't.
