My set arrived today.

CD 1 plays and sounds great.

CD2 will not play in my Player (SimAudio Moon) at all. Starts skipping and eventually locks up.
Anyone else have this issue?

I shouldn't admit to stupidity like this, but my Disc 1 never played properly when I bought it from SAE when it originally came out (constantly skipped thoughout) and for some damn stupid reason that's always irked me I never got round to contacting SAE (I think it was a case of coming back from holiday and soon after getting chickenpox if memory serves me right). I've just ordered it again from SAE after seeing this thread re-started as it's one of my favourite scores. Guess I'm too late now for a relacement (I still have the original unmarked and never played!)???

I appreciate the consideration and sent an e-mail regarding particulars this morning.

Thanks,
Ron

My disc #1 became riddled with a chittering "electronic woodchipper" noise last year. Will SAE still replace it? I'd hate to be forced to lay down another $25 on this.

Please contact them, I believe they will!

Is this a common problem? I must admit I haven't played the actual CD for a while, I've been playing the lossless rip. Time to test the discs perhaps.

I sent off an e-mail, so hopefully it bears fruit. It's one of my favorite film scores of all time, and I'd hate to lose the disc with the complete score.

The same thing happened with my Intrada copy of The Black Cauldron. Thankfully, I was able to replace it with the Disney reissue for only ten bucks.

SAE got back to me, and said they'd only replace the disc if I had bought it from them within the last 30 days, so I'm shit out of luck. frown

So, if I buy a new copy, am I gonna have to go through this six or seven years down the line? What happened to CDs offering "A lifetime of listening enjoyment"?

That's pretty lousy customer service from Screen Archives. What if you live outside the US and because of the coronavirus there are postage delays to your country, and you receive a faulty CD from Screen Archives more than 30 days after you bought it? Well, basically you're screwed and Screen Archives are giving you the finger.

I live in the UK and a few weeks ago I ordered three FSM CDs (one of which is Body Heat) from Screen Archives and had them sent to a parcel consolidation company in the US, along with four other parcels (in order to save me postage from the US). By the time I receive the parcel containing all the items I bought, it will be more than 30 days since I bought the CDs from Screen Archives. So I'm hoping that all three CDs play OK without faults.

I mean, the disc is obviously defective. A CD should not shit the bed inside of a decade after you buy it. I have CDRs from the mid-90's that still play flawlessly. I'm just pissed that I now have to spend another $25 for a new copy, and one that might itself decide to stop playing properly a few years down the line.

I thought it was just me - I have the same issue, but with disc 1, and it only seems to be an issue when it is ripped to my computer. I discovered this a few months ago and assumed it was an operator error (ie, me) when I was ripping it originally. I re-ripped it a couple of times, but it's still a problem.

Doesn't seem to be an issue when played through a dedicated CD player, and disc 2 is fine. But when listening to it using the ripped file, it sounds like it's been recorded from a scratched record using a microphone next to the speaker.

Annoying as I do most of my listening now using iTunes on the computer or through an iPhone (not by choice).

I bought this when it first came out so clearly no chance of a replacement given the post above.

This is the first CD I've had an issue with, which makes me think there was a manufacturing defect.

Oh well - at least I have disc 2. And my stereo. But if anyone else has this release I'd be checking it.

Just replayed mine. It's fine. One of the fringe benefits of this thread is that every time somebody posts on it i play my Body Heat CD to make sure it's okay. One of my all-time favorites. I have the Label X but this FSM is the one to have,

I finally am getting around to checking my speciality label CDs that have been reported to possibly have playback issues after a few years. I'll post results for Body Heat once I dig it out and test it.

A little while later....

Ok, I'm playing track 1 on disc 1 and no wood chipper on the horizon as yet.

Disc 1 seems ok after a quick scan through. On to disc 2....

Track 1 ok.

Skipping through random tracks now and sounds fine...and rather lovely I might add.

Now on to dig out The Black Cauldron and Gremlins....
