I am very intrigued by this movie, I hope its good.

I do wonder what kind of score David Arnold, James Newton Howard, Michael Giacchino, or Don Davis would have come up with though.

Same here!!!
And I wonder how this artwork would look like, if Drew Struzan would have painted it. smile

Well the three composers for this film did a great job on the score for Perfume The Story of a Murderer. If Tykwer wants an orchestral approach, we'll get one.

Yeah, and the Wachowskis haven't exactly been slouches when it comes to music for their films, either.

Yea, I love the score to Perfume!

So far only a digital version is up at Amazon. Sounds clips can be heard here:

Amazon UK have a CD listed for release on the Sony Classical label on 25th March 2013.

I agree the sound samples sound great, and I'm quite happy to wait until next year to get the CD, rather than waste money on a digital download (the latter of which I wouldn't have bothered with anyway).

O.k., I agree, sounds great!
I admit that I was rather sceptical. Looking forward to it.

Are you sure, that there'll be a CD release?

Well there his precedence for this. Ramin Djawadi's CLASH OF THE TITANS and James Newton Howard's GREEN LANTERN both had physical CD releases on Sony in the UK and digital/CD-R releases in the U.S.

Wow, these samples are stunning. If the full album matches up to them, and I expect it to, this is potential score of the year material for me. I loved Perfume from these 3 as well, and am pleased to note some stylistic similarities here, particularly 'Won't let go' which sounds like it could have been ripped straight from that score.

Fingers crossed that it'll happen again. Thanks for the info!

There's an article at ew.com about the score with one of the tracks in full here:

Well, considering film runs 172 minutes and most of it is underscored, the score is actually quite variable going from really lovely ending with georgeous choir backed by kind of minimalist figures for strings that slowly develop and change to some absolutely unlistenable electronic defects for some "wilder" action sequences.
Hopefully the CD will include mostly the best from the score and in that case it could make a fine listen on its own... it works fine in the movie - except for that loud electronic mess which is just annoying.

Fine movie, btw and definitive winner of this year for make-up.

Well, that is the main theme - developed later on in the movie with the choir, which isn't completely heard in this cue... This sequence really got my attention. 119/120 minute mark in the film... "chinese love theme/montage" smile
not counting the ending, this is IMHO the absolute highlight of the movie in terms of mixing various stories together into one brilliant montage.

btw, there is another bit of the score actually used in the first 1/3 of the trailer (I think this is actually the finale of the movie... but unfortunately it ends far too early...)

According to Amazon, they have a soundtrack CD coming out November 6th for those of you (like me) who don't want a downloaded version. At least I'm assuming that's what it is.

Samples are promising but it sounds like half of the score is tension music, which doesn't seem that great. Maybe it will still be enjoyable when I do a bit of trimming to it. Of course amazon samples aren't the best quality either.
