I know I've seen parts of Sodom over the years on TV, enough not to want to see more. I do have the RCA album and the 2-disc set, but haven't spent too much time on those over the years. So that will feel fresh too.
I listened to some of Tadlow's El Cid yesterday after Quo Vadis, and I have to say it just kind of made me want to go back to QV. I've always loved El Cid, but the nature of the full album is a lot of emphasis on the love theme early on. One of the most notable qualities of the complete QV is the tremendous variety from cue to cue - I skipped a bit through the vocal tracks yesterday, but I'll give them more attention down the road - they too are extremely well done.

You're not wrong, there are a lot of themes in El Cid. It may be that I'm just too reminded of the film when I listen, and I'm afraid I don't recall fondly the long scenes with Heston and Loren. I don't see any real chemistry between them, just two movie stars going through the paces. Which is kind of funny, because I quite enjoy the scenes between Taylor and Kerr in Quo Vadis, and he's not exactly the world's greatest lover. No accounting for taste. And I'll keep listening to both!
