I would say the greatest actor-prop combination in all of sci-fi was William Shatner and the TOS communicator.
In the hands of other actors, the communicator was just a thing. Nimoy would generally snap it open and say his lines without the slightest regard for the prop itself. Shatner though, apparently in an effort to sell his character as the embodiment of macho elegance, sold us on the communicator too. It became part of his body, an extension of Kirk's smooth, catlike mannerisms. He might take it out thoughtfully, regard it for a moment (as Kirk contemplates a strategy), and then open it with a slow, exaggerated flip that looked very cool. It made you want a communicator.
The only other actor-communicator moment that even comes close to what Shatner achieved was in "The Omega Glory" when Cloud William's girlfriend opened one slowly, without the slightest flip. She had her fingertip on one of the hinge wheels and made it look as if the prop was opening by itself.
Are there any other actor-prop pairings worth talking about?
Clint Eastwood with his trademark S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum. Though not a "prop", it was a real gun he was holding. Eastwood used guns in so many of his films where he played a policeman or in his westerns. That .44 was so much a part of his Harry Callahan persona that it was an extension of his arm.
Antonio Banderas and the guitar case gun in Desperado. Another cool prop (the crotch gun) is shown but Banderas getting to use it was left on the cutting room floor (due to problems with the MPAA).
