Universal tweeted - "Breaking News! Jurassic Park 4 is coming June 13, 2014! What do you hope to see in the new sequel? Follow @JurassicPark3D! #JP4 #JP3D"
A bit late. I wrote an article on this two days ago.
But yeah....great news. Finally something concrete. Still, I won't get my hopes up untill the cameras are actually rolling. I've been disappointed too much by all the delays in the last 12 years.
That said, I really hope the screenplay is a little more imaginative than just setting it on a hitherto unmentioned "C Site" (Isla Nothasite?) and perhaps actually bringing the threatto the mainland. And yes I know there was a little of that in Lost World).
Not sure I would want them to go as far as the John Sayles idea of having human/dino hybrid super soldiers though! That concept is actually really cool but no for a JP movie.
How is this great news? When does it get a script, actors, or filmmakers? Hollywood is completely decrepit.
Uhm....say what?
Script writers are already writing the story (Jaffa & Silver) and I'm sure the rest of the crew will be announced soon enough. A date is the first concrete news we've had in 12 years, and I think it's cause for celebration -- even though I will still hold back a bit untill the cameras are actually rolling.

Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines. There's no reason to push a collaborative film effort with immense effects work to a certain date. Motion pictures rise and fall depending on the time table that the filmmakers have to work with*. It's like not allowing your wine to breathe before you drink it.
* Interestingly enough, some movies, scores, etc. have had that tight schedule work in their artistic favor.
Hopefully they don't give the directing job to Rian Johnson. He would basically rip off the sequels and put it through a filter so his fanboys would praise it.
This film has to be about the characters with a solid script. Another weak story with an endless parade of CGI dinosaurs won't cut it. And please no more Raptors.
". . . but Tom, got a note from Gene Roddenberry which I think is interesting. He said we have a starting date, July 15th, but we don't have a script. But he said, what the hell, there are a lot of people who have scripts but don't have a starting date."
Looks like any chance of this being good is now gone. They hired the director of Safety Not Guaranteed to direct, so it's guaranteed that nothing will happen in this installment.
And don't be surprised to find out that the events of the last three films were all the delusions of some hipster.
I was also surprised by the choice of newcomer Colin Trevorrow to direct this mastodont project, but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. God knows, history is full of examples of directors who have made some very good films early in their careers. Also, I need to check out SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED.
Safety Not Guaranteed was a major example of a good idea put to waste. Had they followed the original meme, it could have been an amazing affectionate parody of time travel movies. But instead, the director made a boring mumblecore movie that's been done by countless other indie filmmakers in the past few years (nearly all of them of poor quality and limitless pretension).
Great adventure, no annoying characters like Lost World was crammed full with. Lots of danger, new dino species but nothing too far fetched. I like the last one a lot despite it offering little new, I hope the next one will be a bit more ambitious.
I kinda liked Jurassic Park 3 in a mindless "B" movie kind of way. In fact I like it more than the first two. The first one was a bad movie trying to be a good movie. The second one was just baaaaad.
