Does anybody have this and knows if the contents differ significantly from the regular release? I realize all the songs are excluded; but with the track titles being different, I'm having a hard time figuring out if the score portion is the same or not.

Yes it differs considerably. It basically features each cue as featured in the film and in chronological order. The last track, Brave Trailer Theme is actually Merida's Home on the OST (end title in the film).

So does it contain music not on the official release or is it just the same material sequenced chronologically?

Yes, approximately 10-15 minutes worth that isn't on the OST. Although, the OST featured music that wasn't in the film but that's nothing new.

A question...

FYC means for your consideration, right? So, it means a promo copy, doesn't it?

Thanks smile

I haven't been able to get the Blu-Ray yet but I heard there's an end credit suite?

Yes, they are legal pressed CDs made by the studios to promote their scores to all the various award committees to hopefully get nominated. They send them out in the mail to people on these committees, as well as various people who review scores for magazines or websites, etc.

The reason us common folk know about their contents is because a lot of people who receive them end up selling them on ebay, usually with pictures displaying the track list. And obviously sometimes the winners of ebay auctions might share mp3 files with their friends, who shares it with a friend, etc, and eventually it gets uploaded to an illegal file sharing website and then everyone has it.

Or ... you could just keep it as a collectible...

Not specially composed, just lifted from the OST and the only place you'll hear Merida's Home in the film.

The various disc releases are a disappointment musically speaking as there isn't any focus on the music at all, which is unusual for Pixar's discs. It has Patrick speak of being Scottish in a language feature for about a minute and that's it.

I also believe that the track on the score entitled WE BOTH CHANGED is made up of three (3) separate tracks from the FYC. BEAR FIGHT, ALL MY FAULT (Inst) and WE BOTH CHANGED.

The score is a lot better than the commercial album would have you believe.

I agree. I found the score on the commercial album boring, partly because it's not very thematic. Then I listened to the FYC. For some bonkers reason most of the instances of the main theme are in the cues that are exclusive to the FYC. It changed my opinion of the score completely.
