I couldn't find a proper discussion thread about this score, just a couple about the Fenton rejected score.
For me, this is one of the best horror scores I've ever heard!
It just seems to leap about in a frenzy at times, a veritable danse macabre that really adds to the drama, tragedy and suspense of the film. There's also a 'cathedral beauty'* to the more sombre moments
I think it may be my favourite score by EG, although others - COBB, MICHAEL COLLINS, ALIEN 3, DEMOLITION MAN - are equally stunning.
Let's hear it for this monumental score!

I also love this score, one of my favorites from Goldenthal, which is one of my favorite composers ever. I wish we could get an expanded soundtrack CD...

Been a loooong time since I visited the score and the film. It's sort of drifted out of my attention span and I haven't been compelled to revisit it, but I do recall that it is a strong score with Goldenthal's distinct style, and it served the film well.

I really love this. Not that I dislike what Goldenthal came up with- I really enjoy that too. But the tone of this score is slightly different and would have been interesting to see the movie with Fenton's music. I hope this score is released some day because from what I heard it's quite lovely. sort of a Gorecki meets Renaissance. Cool stuff. thanks for posting.

Especially since an expanded reissue of Goldenthal's score would also justify release of Fenton's work as well! LLL has done it for Jennifer 8, Used Cars, Golden Child, etc. and hopefully they'll do it for this as well as the complete Goldsmith/Jarre River Wild.
A lot of the time an expansion/remaster of the used film score is the way for the rejected film score to be released. And if you're licensing a film title for the rejected score anyway, why not expand the used score? (Unless it's a case like 2 Days in the Valley or Young Guns, that is.)

I am very fond of Elliot Goldenthal's scores and classical works. As such, I look forward to any expansion, new release, or remastered re-release that any of the specialty labels or Zarathustra Records can produce.

The other Goldenthal score from 1994 that I still have and love is Cobb. Both scores made me very hopeful for his future. Alas, it was not meant to be. Heat would be the last soundtrack with his music that I would buy.
I sort of concur. I did enjoy Titus but it was sort of a Best Of score. Alien3, Golden Gate, Interview with the Vampire, Cobb, Demolition Man and Heat were all great. Didn't enjoy Batman Forever though.

TO JWB-You used the word insane to describe MR Marshall's great score lousy film comment, but why? He didn't say the score was bad , he i believe meant it was a solid score, but the movie he didn't like.Anyway, how can anyone say a person's viewpoint on a creative project is insane.TO EACH ONE'S OWN.

I enjoy most of Goldenthal's oeuvre, including his early and later periods. The album I listen to the most is "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within." The only title of his that has not resonated with me yet is "Frida," although some album restructuring on my part may one day remedy this.

Fabulous score, as with all Goldenthal scores kind of timeless, in its own stratosphere.
By the way: IN DREAMS is also fantastic.
