He's my second favorite musician! My favorite is between AGAINST ALL ODDS and SEPARATE LIVES. I also love GENESIS LAND OF CONFUSION. I'm including his GENESIS work.
Genesis has been my favorite band since the 80s, and Phil Collins has been my favorite singer since that time as well. It's a tough choice, but I think my favorite Phil Collins song is IT DON'T MATTER TO ME from the album "Hello, I Must Be Going" (1982). My favorite Genesis song is SCENES FROM A NIGHT'S DREAM from "...And Then There Were Three..." (1978).
I've been a Phil/Genesis fan since '85. It's definitely a tough call on which solo or Genesis tune is my absolute favorite.
Solo wise, it would be between Against All Odds, Take Me Home, or Inside Out.
Genesis wise, it would be between Keep It Dark, Duchess or the live medley from the Invisible Touch tour consisting of In The Cage (Medley: ...In That Quiet Earth - Apocalypse in 9/8 - As Sure As Eggs Is Eggs). Still makes me mad to this day that the live concert video omitted this fantastic medley because the film makers decided to switch tapes during this song...at least I have the radio show that includes it.

what was the song he did with genesis with the line "Im just the lawnmower, you can tell me by the way I walk?
Bill, that was Peter Gabriel on lead vocal, Phil on backing vocals, percussion and drums -- writers credited are Gabriel, Banks, Hackett, Rutherford and Collins -- from 'I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)' on 'Selling England by the Pound'. Phil's big solo number on that album was the ballad 'More Fool Me'. But here's that lawnmower song:
The album cover is a painting by Betty Swanwick called The Dream.
Listening to his songs nowadays I honestly find a lot of them haven't aged all that well, but I still appreciate "Another Day In Paradise" (heard it a lot on the radio back in the day) and "in the air tonight".
I like the intro of "You can`t Hurry Love" but that`s about it. Actually I am one of those who really never listens to songs. No songs can come close to instrumental music (such as filmscores) but that Phil Collins song comes close or at least thanks to that intro.
I got to say guys, I really love Phil's music, just about everything he's done as a solo artist and in Genesis. He finally won the Oscar for YOU'L BE IN MY HEART back in, I think 2000. I think he also should have won for AGAINST ALL ODDS which is a powerful song. He's still touring and I'd love to see him. He's my second favorite musician right behind Conti.
