Composer David O has posted roughly half of his musical work on Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony for free listening on his Soundcloud page (the other half of his original score/arrangements for the film are tied up in legalities). About eight and a half minutes of music over six tracks:
David also arranged the music heard in the animated segments of the film. BronyDoc, LLC granted permission for JanAnimations to post the animated musical segments for free viewing:
Most of the rest of the film's music is comprised of edits of fanmade brony music.
One of the original songs from the film, "Take My Hand", written and performed by Tara Strong, was released as a digital download on iTunes and Amazon. The single was also released on CD as a limited edition of 100 units (not a typo - 100 units, not 1000), available exclusively at Big Apple Ponycon in NYC (March 23rd & 24th, 2013). A regular CD release with different artwork is coming soon.
I don't get why people who have no interest are bothering to come into this thread and raining on others parade. Seriously, it's just not cool. We (film score listeners) are a fringe group as it is, stop being so elitist.
I'm sorry you feel that way about your profession. The real world is a nasty place full of hatred, cynicism, trolls, and bullies, though people of all ages should be taught the ideals of love, friendship, and tolerance, and we do need teachers to help offset the balance. Might I recommend watching some My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to help aid your teachings to your fellow students? The show has a lot of morals that everyone should listen to and learn from so they can make their personal relationships with others and the rest of society a happier place to be. Go out there and make a difference with positive energy!
If I showed this to my students (college age), I would be laughed out the door. I believe you pushing your likes on the wrong age group here. My students can learn lessons in life through other mean than through childrens programming.
Hilarious! Having fun with fandom with absolutely no sense of humor about itself (and believe me, this could have been way, way worse) is magic.
Our fandom has a healthy sense of humor, actually; just go and check out today's posts over at Equestria Daily. I don't represent the entire fandom, you know. I'm sure you don't represent your group of soundtrack liner notes writers either, and I'm thankful for that.
I suspect it has less to do with the support of this material... and more to do with the person this information is coming from.
An extremely ironic statement, coming from you of all people. Weren't you #3 on the Top Ignored FSM Posters list of 2010? I wouldn't be surprised if that number has been bumped up to #2 or #1 by now.
I believe you pushing your likes on the wrong age group here.
Please explain to me how I am "pushing" my interests on people here. I do believe everyone has a choice on whether or not they wish to click on and read this thread.
Don't like it? The door is thataway. Don't let it hit you on your way out.

You create multiple threads on a subject most of us find creepy and annoying, and you keep doing it even though the responses it gets are overwhelmingly negative.
Perhaps this is the sort of thing that should stay at Equestria Daily?
(Not trying to be part of the mob, just pointing it out.)

Miles, thank you for posting this, you beat me to it. Yes should stay at Equestria Daily (whatever that is) as long as not here.
I'm disgusted at some of the responses that I've read in this thread. Shocked actually.
Curious, how would some of you feel if this was a film music fan getting bashed just because he or she enjoys film music?
Personally, I don't "get" the popularity of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I've seen a few episodes with my daughter and it's just not for me. But then again, film music isn't for everyone as well.

PS - For the record Senn555 and I have had our own spats in the past and I'm not here to defend him personally. What I am here to defend is everyone's right to enjoy whatever it is they want to enjoy without getting bullied or made fun us just because of something that you might not understand. Look, I'm not innocent by any means when it comes down to this sort of stuff. I've said some nasty things in the past (on message boards and in private) but I would like to think that I'm doing my best not to be that kind of person anymore especially when I have a six and three year old that look up to me.
