I'm a bit confused. You said you saw the previews, so am I correct that you didn't get to see the whole movie, just the trailer? If you saw the whole movie, tell us about it. I wasn't fond of the songs in the trailer, but I'm hoping for fine score behind this drama. No I saw the trailer and did a bit of research on the soundtrack and located the list of songs. The movie has not been released in the US yet - May 10th. Here is the soundtrack - you judge. 100$ Bill by Jay-Z Back To Black by Beyoncé x André 3000 Bang Bang by will.i.am A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got) - Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock Young And Beautiful by Lana Del Rey Love Is The Drug by Bryan Ferry with The Bryan Ferry Orchestra Over The Love by Florence + The Machine Where The Wind Blows by Coco O. of Quadron Crazy in Love by Emeli Sandé and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra Together by The xx Hearts A Mess by Gotye Love Is Blindness by Jack White Into the Past by Nero Kill and Run by Sia *smokes pipe* 'Tis a fine soundtrack but sure 'tis no score, English.

does mr. armstrong have any involvement with this at the movie level even if not the soundtrack? Yep. Seems like the same deal as R+J and Moulin Rouge.

In spite of various attempts at capturing/recreating the essence of the novel, it would be very difficult to come even close to the version which starred Robert Redford and Mia Farrow (soundtrack included). It's not easy to improve on near perfection! :-) ahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! you funny guy! brm

THE GREAT GATSBY with Redford was NOT a great adaptation, by any means. The WORST part about it was the terribly miscast Mia Farrow. 'NUFF SAID bruce

I’ll support the group that thinks the Redford adaptation of The Great Gatsby was well-done. Overall, that movie stayed pretty true to Fitzgerald’s novel. I think Di Caprio and Mulligan look like Gatsby and Daisy. Both, if well-directed, are fine actors. Gatsby’s almost tasteless excesses seem to be captured in the new trailer. Finally, I do like Armstrong’s music, and I’m hoping we get a lot of his underscore in the movie instead of rock songs. I’m a person who does not really like current rock songs in historical movies; yes, I realize a lot of you do enjoy them. Those songs seem to take me out of the historical narrative. On the other hand, current songs can take an historical piece and in a way, add a universal “timelessness” to the story. The themes that are illustrated in a Shakespearean play or in a great but older American novel may resonate with our current audience via current songs. It isn’t my thing, but it works for some. In the end, I think Gatsby, his longings, desires, dreams, and obsessions are rather tragic but are often a part of many Americans’ dreams. I hope it is a good movie because there are important messages in Fitzgerald’s East and West Eggs' landscapes.

Would love someone to release Riddle's score on CD. Was just watching the Blu-Ray of the film -- it truly demands a release, both for his adaptations and underscore. I just ordered the blu-ray; haven't seen the movie since I was a kid. Really looking forward to it!
